Application ProcessĀ

I visited WWF, India weblink available at wwfindia.org/cel and sent all the required documentation for the internship.

Duration of internship and timings

November 2013 to February 2014

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

My first impression was very good. But it was not that good from their end. The Director of Law Department gave us an appointment to discuss some of the issues pertaining to my offer as a part of Legal Aid Society of my college.

She asked me to give a presentation which was not so convincing from our end. Accidentaly, she ended up offering me an internship at WWF, India.

It was a virtual Internship. I was assigned work on weekly basis which was sometimes followed by a meeting with Director in case it is needed.

Main tasks

My main task was to conduct legal research on various enviro-legal aspects. I authored few research papers on topics such as role of Lokpal Bill on NGO’s and Solar infrastructure in India etc.

Work environment and people

Work environment comprised of Miss Moullika Arabhi only and she was a gem of person. She was very kind and gentle in answering queries of impatient person like me.

Best things

Best thing was first time I came to know the link between nature and law. Things which were always apparent to me but I never thought of.

One such thing was Solar Turf in Kerala High Court. It was a surprise to know that this Court was fully Solar energy propelled building which is really a small start to large futuristic approach.

Bad things

It never felt like I was practically working in an office and it was hard to push myself to work without a real watch on me.

Biggest Lessons

Contacts are catalyst to a lawyer and one must never lose an opportunity to build healthy network with people.
