About the Webinar

Topic: Aesthesis of Victims in the Criminal Justice System: Emerging Trends

In the traditional criminal justice system, the complainant or the victim is only a witness to the trial whereas the offender has several rights in the duration of the trial. There is a growing perception that the Criminal Justice System should expand its horizon beyond the concept of retribution and should embrace positive ideals like rehabilitation and restoration.

It is imperative that the interests of the victim are given due regard and the outcome of the justice dispensation machinery should not only be punishment to the offender as a deterrence against crime but also the restitution of victim. In this webinar, the distinguished speakers shall discuss this emerging centrality of the victim in the criminal justice system.
