Duration of Internship and timings

July 4, 2016 – July 30, 2016

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

I had already interned in Wadia Ghandy & co., Mumbai so I expected the office in Pune to be big and extravagant as well. However the office was quite small. I reached there, met the Partners and immediately assigned a place to sit.

It was very cosy as all the associates and interns sit together in one room, which worked out great for me, as the associates are super friendly and would help you out with anything.

Main tasks

It was my second time in Wadia Ghandy so I was accustomed to their work culture.

Working in Wadia Ghandy involved assistance in carrying out various research oriented tasks such as provisions of various regional and central laws on mines and minerals in relation to a ‘pre-feasibility report’ for a ‘mining lease agreement’ that the law firm was working on.

l was also required to research on Transfer of Property Act, Maharashtra Land Revenue Act and Code of Civil Procedure.

Researching on various mining laws especially the Mines and minerals Development and Regulation (MMDR) Act, helped me get a in-depth knowledge of the manner on which transfer of mining lease promotes a more ‘transparent’ market for mines in the country and also brings in ‘investment’ in this sector.

Work environment and people

Very nice and Student friendly. The Associates and the Partners were very keen to help out the interns.

Whenever they had any work, the partners or the associates would immediately assign you with the same. Since there was only one other intern, other than me, we got a great load of tasks.

Best things

1. Student Friendly

2. Good Research Work

3. One can interact and have fun during lunch breaks.

4. The Associates are super friendly and sometimes buy the interns coffee in the evening.

5. Saturdays one can gets off work early and go shopping on Fergusson Road Streets.

Bad things

No bad things at all. All good.

Biggest Lessons

It is okay to make mistakes, as long as you learn from them.

Stayed with a family friend. However many hostel facilities are available nearby Fergusson College Road which is really close to where the office is situated.

Office Timings

The office timings were 10:00 am till 7:00 or 8:00 pm.

It is preferable if one stays until the work assigned for the day is completed.
