First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure:

At first, I was introduced to the founder and senior most partner of the firm Advocate Pradipta Varma, who interviewed me and asked several questions relating to my past experiences and areas of interest.

I was then made to  submit a printed copy of my CV, along with a couple of passport-size photos of mine. The infrastructure was really good and there was separate room for the interns as well. There was a library with ample amount of books.

Main tasks

During the initial days of my internship I was told to make the case brief of the cases which was posted for hearing the next day and was made to represent the same at the end of the day before Varma sir and his associates.

I also had few court visits. Then, I was allotted with some research work and drafting. At the end of the internship every intern had to submit an internship report.

Work environment and people:

The work environment is really friendly but professional. People over there are always ready to teach and help. Working in such an environment is encouraging and motivational.

Good things:

The best thing over there was the conversations with Varma sir, even a conversation of five minutes with him would be enough for you to learn variety of things.

My perception about this field of law changed in a positive way.

Bad things:

There were no bad things as such.

Stipend:

Rs. 5000/-

Accommodation:

I stayed at my hostel.

Biggest Lessons:

Learnt how to be on time and sit in the office for long hours.

  1. You can, but they generally prefers students above 2nd year and moreover in your 1stvyear you don’t have enough legal idea, as per my suggestion interning at a law firm is not the best idea. But, if you want to intern at Bhubaneswar then you can go for Kalinga Kusum (NGO) or lex mantra.

    1. Oh. Thank you so much for your suggestions. I’ll surely look into them. Thanks!?

    2. Did they mention you about stipend in the beginning when you joined or any details was given regarding the pay?also when was it paid?

    3. Please tell me is varma and associates good to work and how much is the stipend

  2. I completed my first year. And, I’m looking for summer internship. Should I apply at Verma & associates? If not, then can you suggest some places? Thank you.
