First impression, First day formalities, Infrastructure
I was told to report to Mr. Siddharth Dang, associate who familiarized me with the work culture, timings, etc.
Then I was later taken around in the office and introduced to each and every one. Such an introduction to every associate, senior associate and principal associate marks your presence in their mind.
Later, Mr. Hemant Puthran, Partner, called me in to discuss my interests and advised me on how to gain the best out of the internship.
The office infrastructure is very comfortable and spacious to accommodate 30 lawyers. The office comprised of 4 partners (who have their separate cabins), 2 practice heads, and other principal associates, senior associates and associates.
The office staff is very helpful in terms of any difficulty. Interns are provided with a separate desktop/ laptop. The interns are seated in a separate room which is very spacious and provides more than adequate space to one intern.
Unlike any other internship, internship with Vaish Associates was far more enriching.
The work assigned to an intern is given with a lot of responsibility and autonomy. I came across a lot of research work, drafting exercises and
During the course of internship, I worked on various areas of law. I researched and drafted opinions on matters concerning Companies Act, 2013, Foreign Direct Investment Policy, 2014, waiver of interest under SEBI Act, 2013, disclosures under SEBI (SAST), 2011 etc.
I was also asked to assist in drafting and amending various agreements concerning with the power, energy and infrastructure transactions.
During the internship tenure, I was asked to give two presentations on Chapter IX of the Companies Act, 2013 and Regulatory changes in the NBFC sector in India.
Work environment, People
Everyone at the firm is very friendly, helpful and appreciative. The work assigned to the interns is always reviewed properly. The process of review involves personal review by the associates or even by the partner.
The work assigned to the interns is incorporated in the transactions and is well informed to the interns as well.
More than the research, the associates and partners insist on the application and analysis of the law which is the reason why the learning curve is always high with the firm. The special focus on law and the idea behind a provision of law is given main attention.
Basically, if you demonstrate a certain level of serious dedication and motivation then there is no end to learning opportunity at Vaish Associates.
The best thing about Vaish Associates is the associate or the partner involves the interns in the entire transaction. The intern can understand the impact of the work done by him in the whole transaction.
The associates and partners participate in the review of the assignments given to the interns and appreciate the work done.
Knowledge sessions are conducted in the firm in which the interns are encouraged to participate. These knowledge sessions are conducted on weekly basis. Also, the firm has a practice of holding holding monday morning sessions on the current legal issue.
Partners and associate participate in the same and interns get to contribute in the same as well. These sessions have a good debate and interns have a great learning experience out of it.
Every associate, principal associate and partner is very approachable. For any kind of work, the associates are available round the clock.
The entry was a part of the Summer Internship Experience Writing Competition organized by LexisNexis and Lawctopus. MyLaw.net was the learning partner for the competition.
