Deepti Sen

Uttar Pradesh State Information Commission, Lucknow

Application Process

As such they do not provide any internship programme. However if you do have any contacts there or anyone who has any contact with official therein , you can easily get your internship fixed.

I interned there for the period of 1st December , 2014 – 31st December, 2014

First Day

First day was fixed for the meeting with the information commissioner as we had our contacts with him, so he was there to talk with us and allot us our project topics.

It was a typical government office with the PA’s of the officials walking here and there all the time through a narrow and congested corridors which consisted of all officials rooms adjoined to each others. since the building consisted of various others government offices it was so much crowded with gunners and policemen.

Main tasks

Our main task was to prepare a project on our given topics and attend various hearings which took place in separate courtrooms presided by information commissioners regarding the dispute settlements relating to RTI’s.

Work environment was a typical government office.

With policemen, PA’s of dignitaries, many red, blue vehicle beacon lights with flashers.

However we got chief information commissioner’s assistant to guide us in our given work.

Best things

Best thing was if you are attracted by such high profiled dignitaries and people, its a dream come true for you to meet them and get to know how actually any commission or government organisation works in their day to day dispensing business.

Bad things

However only bad thing was that you will find everyone so slow there.

Even their regular chaiiwala was also such a slow creature.

Without contacts , its hard to get an internship opportunity there (But Probably Not Impossible).

No stipend.

Biggest Lessons

Nothing as such but yes it was a great opportunity to know about the working of information commissions.
