The Literary and Debating Society of the College of Legal Studies, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) is proud to announce that it would be conducting Uttarakhand’s first Youth Parliament in the form of 1st UPES Youth Parliament, on the 19th, 20th and 21rst February 2015.
The Conference is open to all colleges irrespective of stream and course.
The said event would be the flagship event at IGNITE 2015.
The stakes are high for there are 3 committees and prizes worth Rs. 50,000 and more up for grabs.
The Committees of UPES Youth Parliament, 2015 are as follows:
1. LOK SABHA: The Lok Sabha would be deliberating on
a) The Lokpal and Lokayuktas and other related Law (Amendment) Bill, 2014;
b) The Major Shift in Foreign Policy of India and its implications;
c) Discussing the viability of an Anti-Conversion Law as proposed by the Government of India.
2. Rajya Sabha: The Upper House of the Parliament shall debate and discuss two major bills that are pending:
a) The Constitution (119th Amendment) Bill, 2013 (India Bangladesh border agreement);
b) The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Bill, 2014.
3) All India Parties Meet:
(A) Review of article 370 of the Constitution of India
(B) Naxalism as a threat to national integration
(C) Making way towards a uniform civil code.

The last date for submission is 16th February, 2015.
