2022 looks like the year of change. Last month we saw certain changes being made to the Delhi Judicial Services pattern. Now, UP Judicial Services has undergone a few modifications as well. The new notification for UP Judicial Services will include these changes from 2022 onwards.
What are these changes exactly?

Reservation
The new rules for UP Judicial Services have made mandatory 4% reservation for people with ‘benchmark disabilities’. People under this category include:
- Â Locomotor disability of one arm, leg, or both legs, leprosy cured persons, dwarfism, acid attack victims (1%).
- Low vision under the category of ‘visual impairment as defined under Rights of Persons with Disability Act, 2016 (1%).
- Hard of hearing under the category of hearing impairment (1%).
- Remaining one percent for the persons mentioned above on a rotational basis.

Language Paper
Previously, the UP Judicial Services language paper consisted of 200 marks and included both, Hindi and English paper.
After the amendment, the language paper has now been divided into two papers:
- English
- Hindi
Each of these papers will carry 100 marks. The syllabus for new papers will include:
- Essay: 50 Marks
- Précis Writing: 30 marks
- Translation (From Hindi to English and English to Hindi): 20 Marks
Local Laws
New modification in the Revenue law for UP Judicial Services has excluded The Uttar Pradesh Zamindari Abolition and Land reforms Act 1951, Uttar Pradesh, Urban Buildings (Regulation of Letting, Rent, and Eviction) Act, 1972.
Now the new syllabus of Penal, Revenue, and Local Laws will include:
- Indian Penal Code, 1860
- Uttar Pradesh Revenue Code, 2006
- Uttar Pradesh Municipalities Act
- U.P. Panchayat Raj Act
- U.P. Consolidation of Holding Act, 1953
- Uttar Pradesh Urban (Planning and Development) Act, 1973 together with rules framed under the aforesaid Act.
