The University of Calcutta Debate Committee in association with the University of Calcutta Hazra Campus Students’ Union is proud to introduce the Rajendra Prasad Memorial Debate 2017, to be hosted by the Department of Law, University of Calcutta from the 25th to the 27th of May, 2017.
RPMD 2017 is set to be one of the biggest debates in the city, with 32 teams from around the country vying for top honours over 3 days of intensely competitive debating.
The Rajendra Prasad Memorial Debate is a 3-on-3 Asian Parliamentary Debate, with each team consisting of 3 members playing the roles of the Prime Minister/Leader of Opposition, Deputy Prime Minister/Deputy Leader of Opposition and Government Whip/Opposition Whip, and each member speaking for 7 minutes.
Cross-Institutional and Non-Institutional teams are also allowed to register.

Institutions may indicate the number of team slots their respective institutions require in the above form. The number of slots allotted available to an institution will however be subject to the number of institutions registering and available slots.

The first round of registration closes on the 10th of May. The slots allotted to each institution will be published on that day.
Registration fees for Teams (without accommodation) Rs. 1500.
For accommodation each team will have to pay Rs. 1000 extra, thus bringing their total registration fees to Rs. 2500.
Registration fees for Adjudicators (without accommodation) Rs. 600.
For accommodation each adjudicator will have to pay Rs. 500 extra, thus bringing their total registration fees to Rs. 1100
Adjudicator Registration Fee Waiver
We will be providing a total of 5 full and 3 partial registration fee (without accommodation) waiver to adjudicators.

RPMD 2017 will offer participants a minimum prize money of Rs.50,000.
The specifics of the prize money up for grabs will be declared in due course.
