The 109th Annual Conference of the Society of Legal Scholars (SLS) will be held in at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), from lunchtime Tuesday 4 September to lunchtime Friday 7 September 2018.
The conference theme is ‘Law in Troubled Times’, drawing attention both to the enormous changes through which the UK constitution is going, and more generally to the global forces that threaten the Rule of Law.
Not every subject section will be able to deal directly with this theme, and, as usual, all contributions, whether addressing it or not, are welcome.
The conference will be held in the QMUL Mile End Campus, in the East End of London. Accommodation will be on campus and in hotels nearby.
Applications to submit an abstract is now open. Registration opens in May 2018
If you are interested in delivering a paper or organising a panel in one of the subject section sessions at the conference, please submit your paper abstract or panel details by 11:59 pm UK time on Monday 27th March.
All abstracts and panel details must be submitted through the Oxford Abstracts conference system which can be accessed using the button below and following the instructions (select ‘Track’ for the relevant subject section).
If you experience any issues in using Oxford Abstracts, please contact [email protected]
Those wishing to present a paper should submit a title and abstract of around 300 words, whilst those wishing to propose a panel should submit a document outlining the theme and rationale for the panel and the names of the proposed speakers (who must have agreed to participate) and their abstracts.
Sessions are 90 minutes in length and so we recommend panels of three to four speakers, though the conference organisers reserve the right to add speakers to panels in the interests of balance and diversity.
