Law for Aid and Welfare [hereinafter ‘society’] is a not-for-profit society of legal professionals which has been working in the Indian states of Assam and Bihar ever since its inception in the year 2012. We are a rights-based organization. Our vision is to create a more equal, just and sustainable world. We strive to secure the “Right to Life with Dignity” for all.
Up until the year 2016, the society focused on spreading legal awareness among the general populace by conducting legal awareness sessions to enable them to demand justice. Expanding its scope of charitable work, the society organised a team of six advocates to provide free legal aid services to the poor and victims/survivors of sexual offences.
In the year 2018, the society further expanded its scope of operation in the arena of legal education. Recognising the society’s endeavours and expertise, several institutions were pleased to partner with us by way of concluding Memorandums of Understanding for varied purposes.
About the Journal
The LAW Review: A Journal of Law, Policy and Society is a quarterly publication run and managed by Law for Aid and Welfare (LAW). Recognising the need to strengthen the grasp on the dynamism of law, i.e., the interface of law, society and policy, as also to provide a forum for scholarship and knowledge dissemination, we at LAW have endeavoured to establish the LAW REVIEW: A Journal of Law, Policy and Society. The review / journal is an open access and a peer-reviewed/refereed journal.
The review / journal is intended to inform, update, refresh, review and enlighten academics, law practitioners, social and policy thinkers as well as students. Further, it is aimed to serve as a means of inviting and persuading others to participate in dealing with present legal and social issues by sharing their thoughts and perspectives through a simple yet invaluable contribution in the form of legal articles, commentaries, book reviews, special articles by interdisciplinary academics, notes, essays and discussion write-ups.
The submissions for the first quarter of 2019 shall be on contemporary legal and social issues. Additionally, we also welcome submissions on literature, dance, music and films with special reference to social, political or legal aspects.
