How To Apply?

June to August are the months where there is usually a rush for applications for internship, on top the cherry on the cake was that due to the ongoing pandemic courts were shut for a couple of months generally because of that law firms also had to shut down themselves. At this stage my friend suggested me that I should apply at this Delhi based firm named Sync Legal where online work from home internships were still available. Therefore, I went to their website and filled in the google form, usually within a few weeks reply arrives if the firm is on a vacancy. Then I was called for an interview with the managing director of the firm Adv. Prakhar Dixit sir, himself. Thus within 2 days after the interview the confirmation arrived. The internship was of 2 months starting from 31st May 2021 to 2 August 2021.

First Day Formalities / First Impression

The internship was completely online and it was a work from home so we were rendered with a common zoom link and were told to join an official WhatsApp group for further communication, the first day formalities also included me submitting some documents such as an updated CV, last semester marksheet, college ID card scanned pdf file and a passport size photograph. Rest for the first day it was all about observing how the office worked and tasks were allotted and completed.

My first impression was quite a positive one. I was told to report to Adv. Siddharth Singh sir, who would be my guide throughout this internship.

Main Task

My main task for this internship included participating in Online Dispute Resolution and assisting in the conciliation processes; drafting various applications to be filed along with a Civil Appeal in High Court; regular research on various legal aspects; writing articles; summarizing judgements and briefing the senior;  regular court watches and also checking up the cause lists and daily orders of the court.

Work Environment

The work environment is something that I feel is every intern’s favorite part, as it the best to be precise, seniors always try their best to make their interns feel comfortable and the work pressure usually feels minimal as each day ends with a light hearted zoom call that comprises of stocking up every little thing that goes on in a day. The zoom call usually starts at 10.30am in the morning and ends according to work load and completion of daily tasks assigned. To add on every week usually on Sundays casual meetings are held where associates review our weekly performances, rectify our mistakes and mentor us for future tasks and  we were even given the opportunity to review our mentors.

Good Things

The best part to talk about is the efforts that the senior associates take in building a mentor-mentee relationship on the long run which is quite a commendable feature to acknowledge. The firm believes in tea work and many other such valuable work ethics which really proves this internship to be a fruitful one.

Bad Things

Stipend (If Any)

No, there was no stipend offered for this particular internship.

Accommodation/ Communicating To Office

It was a work from home internship [virtual internship] therefore there arose no question of accommodation, but the office is situated in Connaught Place, New Delhi.

Overall according to me it was a beautiful 2 months with loads of learning and new experiences.
