Symbiosis Law School, Pune is organizing a 1-Day National Round Table on Regulation of Social and Digital Media Platforms and OTT in India (22nd May 2021) in collaboration with Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication, Pune and Symbiosis Institute of Digital and Telecom Management, Pune.

About the Roundtable

Symbiosis Law School, Pune in collaboration with Symbiosis Law School Pune, Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication, Pune, and Symbiosis Institute of Digital and Telecom Management, Pune will be conducting One Day National Seminar on Social Media and OTT Platform Rules, 2021.

This interdisciplinary discourse aims to provide a forum for participants to deliberate and further build on the implementation and implication of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. It will provide opportunities for enhanced research skills, future collaborations, and joint publications.

Who can Participate?

The Round Table will be attended by various speakers from interdisciplinary domain representing the stakeholders in the digital ecosystem and alive web. This would include representatives from Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government Departments, Lawyers from top tier law firms, Consultants from corporate sectors, OTT players such as content makers, producers of content, academicians, research scholars, students etc

  • Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021: Regulatory Model Evaluation
  • Right to Privacy in the Digital Domain
  • Classification of content, content regulation and Ethics
  • Censorship on digital media: A dilemma of regulation, co-regulation and self- regulation
  • Role of AI in automated censorship

Abstracts are invited for the conference from faculty members, researchers, doctoral scholars, and students from across all countries. Abstracts should be sent to paper.submission@symlaw.ac.in

Guidelines for Submission of Abstract

Abstract should be divided into various headings as mentioned in List 1. However, the mentioned headings are merely indicative. Authors can choose any suitable headings of their choice. Other technical instructions for writing abstracts are given in List 2.

List 1: Indicative Headings for Writing Abstract

  • Introduction/Background : Introduce the subject area of your work along with existing research gaps
  • Purpose: What is the aim/objective of the research paper?
  • Design/Methodology/Approach/ Materials and Methods / Experimental: How are the objectives attained? Include the main method(s) used for the research. What is the approach to the topic and what is the theoretical or subject scope of the paper?
  • Results/Findings/Results and Discussion/Findings and Interpretation: What is the likely outcome of your research?
  • Research Implications/Limitations (If applicable): What are the applications of the current research work to the society, business, or any other entity, impact on the economy, etc. Identify limitations in the research process, if any.
  • Originality/Value (Mandatory): What is new in the paper? And whom will it benefit?

List 2: Technical Instructions for Writing Abstract

  • Abstract Language: English
  • Paper size: A4
  • Length: 300 words excluding the title of the paper, author(s) name, affiliation, and address, and references
  • Margins 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all four sides
  • Title of paper 14 points, bold
  • Authors name 12 points; Put an asterisk (*) to the corresponding author
  • Affiliation & address 10 points (mention address clearly indicating place, pin code, state, country, email id, and cell no.)
  • Font of text matter: Times New Roman, 12 point
  • Headings: All headings in 12 point, bold
  • Line Spacing: Single (Give one line space between the title of the paper, author’s name, address, and text matter)
  • Title page: Title, author(s), affiliation(s), contact details
  • Keywords: 4- 5 in alphabetical order
  • Co-authorship of up to two authors is permitted. However, each co-author has to individually register himself/herself for the Conference and at least one of the co-authors should be physically available to present the paper.

  • Deadline for submission of Full Papers: 25th February 2021
  • Title of Paper: Times New Roman – 14 point font – Capital letter
  • Level 1 Heading: Times New Roman, 12 point font, Bold
  • Level 2 Heading: Times New Roman, 12 point font, Italics
  • Level 3 Headings: Times New Roman, 12 point font
  • Text of the paper: Times New Roman, 12 point font
  • 1.5 line spacing
  • Text Justified
  • Page numbers to be inserted
  • No paragraph indention
  • No identifying headers and footers
  • Double spacing between paragraphs
  • Citation/ Reference Style – APA style/Harvard Blue Book Style
  • One inch margin on all sides in all pages.
  • Correct punctuation, spelling and grammar
  • Maximum 20 pages (6000-8000 words including references) (A4 size).
  • Co-authorship of up to two authors is permitted. However, each co-author has to individually register himself/herself for the Conference and at least one of the co-authors should be physically available to present the paper.

Paper Presentations

  • Students, Academicians, and research scholars shall be invited for presenting their research in the sub-themes.
  • Selected candidates shall be allowed to present their papers for 10 minutes.

  • Communication of Acceptance of Abstracts: 12th May 2021
  • Submission of Paper: 15th May 2021
  • Date of Paper Presentation: 22nd May 2021

Mode

The one-day National Roundtable will be conducted Online through the ZOOM Platform.

Certificate

All the participants will be awarded an e-certificate of presentation.
