About Legal Aid Centre

The Legal Aid Centre at Symbiosis Law School Hyderabad was constituted on 28th February 2015, with an aim to provide free legal aid services and create legal awareness among the masses in the nearby vicinity and to organize awareness drives, training programs, legal aid camps and undertake research studies for the propagation of legal knowledge and to make the legal process a resourceful instrument of social development.

Details of the Panel Discussion

Indian clothing and apparel industry is one of the largest employment generating sector after agriculture in India and is the sixth-largest exporter in the world and the country’s traditional handloom textiles industry is one of the oldest and biggest cottage industries. But the traditional artisans are highly underrated and are heavily impacted by the dynamics of the market.

Educating these artisans on their labour rights and providing them knowledge on ways to protect their creative work with the help of IPR’s shall empower them against exploitation of their work.

The programme shall be illuminating the importance of ensuring the economical and legal well-being of not only the textile and handlooms industry in India but also the holistic well-being of the workers in the field. The discussion also aims to emphasize the significance of sustainability in this industry, the adverse effects of Fast Fashion and it’s impact on the environment.
