Good things about the University based on your personal experience

Even though there are many good things about my college I will be writing about the three best things:

1. The college is small in terms of area as well as students but I feel like it is one of the best things.

Good because it gives a personal touch to your college experience and the teachers know you personally.

There is a good senior-junior interaction, the batch size being small gives room for everyone to each other more personally.

2. The buddy senior concept. In this college everyone, has a roll no and the senior with the same roll no in the higher year becomes your buddy senior.

Thus any help you require you can ask your buddy senior.

3. The college provides a lot of opportunities right from the 1st year as you start your journey.

There is a Novices’ moot court competition within the 1st year batch and it is a great learning opportunity.

The college actively encourages the students to take part in sports and competitions.

Bad things about the University based on your personal experience

1. Size of the college – The college being in the city is small in area. One feels like the college should have been bigger in terms of area.

Like there are only 2 canteens and when it is time for meals there is a lot of crowding. And the first years’ get very less time to finish their meals.

2. Infrastructure – You get all the necessities like there is a gym, cafe, basketball court, mess, hostel, etc.

But everything is a bit cramped up. Like there is a volleyball court though there is no boundary around it.

There is an auditorium but it is very small.

The girl’s hostel does not have enough space to accommodate everyone and some seniors are not allowed accommodation owing to paucity space.

How’s the faculty?

The faculty is good and they all have completed their Ph.D and masters.

They have a good experience in teaching, and are really helpful if you approach them.

They are very friendly, the batch size is small so the teachers explain everything properly and you can interact very well.

The only thing which I feel is lacking – is that in the first year some times a few teachers rush things.

How’s the infrastructure? Mention some of the things that exist.

In my personal opinion, the infrastructure is pretty average. You will get all the necessities like gym, cafe, moot court hall, library, basketball court, volleyball court, etc.

But everything is small in size because the size of college in itself is small.

Then there is an administrative building where the class rooms, auditorium, library, computer lab, among other things are present.

There 2 canteens, 2 basketball courts, 2 outdoor badminton courts but the condition of the volleyball court and badminton court is really bad.

How’s your hostel experience?

There are two buildings for boys as well as for the girls.

In the boys hostel one building is known as the single wing. And it is given to the first years as well as some fifth-year students.

And in double room first years stay and in single rooms, fifth year stays. There are three floors in a single-wing excluding the ground floor.

Also to mention a fact that the ground floor of the single wing is given to the fifth year girl students as the accommodation in the girls hostel is not enough.

In the double wing which is the second building, the seniors stay.

The mess is very close to the boys hostel but a little far away from the girls hostel. Both the girls as well as the boys’ hostel are good.

While staying in the hostel for two weeks it was a really fun experience.

Making and eating maggie with your friends during the test weeks was a lot of fun.

How are your peers?

My batch consists of 100 students, most of them hail from an army background.

I normally talk to most of my batchmates. Everyone is helpful and nice to talk to while staying in the hostel.

And getting to know some of my batchmates personally was a great experience as almost everyone is fun to hang out with.

The seniors are really helpful and you can ask them about anything, they are friendly and you can interact with them easily.

How are the placements in your college?

The placements in my college are really good, the students are placed in top banks, law firms, MNCs, etc.

My college has a dedicated Placement Cell that helps students with internships, CVs, cover letters, helping with job placements.

You can approach the head of the Placement Cell who is a fifth year student with any query or requests.

I also asked how to write an mail to seek internship opportunities.

How are the co-curriculars in your college?

There used to be a lot of co-curricular activities but due to the pandemic a lot of activities are on halt like drama, dance, etc.

The college is still conducting eliminations for various moot court competition, debates, etc.

What are some of the things you’d advise to a 1st year aspirant who enters your college?

My first piece of advice would be that be calm as a lot of new things happen when we first enter law school.

In my college for the first year in semester 1 in itself there was a novices moot court competition among the batch.

And the winners received cash prizes, so it is natural for a student to get overwhelmed by it.

If a student enters my college I would advise him/her not to be disheartened by the size of the college and infrastructure (as I was too).

However, I would tell him/her that the law school experience is really good here.
