Not everyone is graced by such Motivational seniors, who guide the juniors for their career development.
But I am lucky. Thanks to Mr. Vishal Jha.
The students who aspire to do internship in Consumer Laws must access SCRDC; State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission. Situated at just 10 min drive from Sec 17 ISBT, Chandigarh, i.e. # Plot 5 B, Madhya Marg Sec 19 B Chandigarh.
It is a well known fact that Chandigarh is a City Beautiful. Both the purposes of doing internship and spending leisure time can be fulfilled here at single end.
Well, I would not go in the history of SCRDC. But from Infrastructure to Work Environment, from the Honourable Bench to Working staff, from pile of files to interns; all these factors make this a very better institution for Internship.
The Bench headed by Justice (Retd.) S.S. GUPTA and Mr. DEVRAJ and Mrs. PADMA PANDEY are its members. Let some credit be also given to Mr. R.S. RAWAT, Executive Secretary for his effective working style which keeps it very energetic & cheerful but disciplined place.
The working hours are from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm including one hour for lunch time. But Interns used to finish their daily assignment and notes writing work by 2:00 pm as everyone used to cooperate each other in preparing all these.
SIMPLEST – Just a Letter of Recommendation from your college and copy of I-card, it would be enough for applying here in SCRDC. But every detail must be properly mentioned in Letter of Recommendation especially about duration of Internship, duly attested and signed by the competent authorities.
I think you already must have got the hint about the work environment here. It is awesome!
Just couples of hours you have to work & then you are free. It is somewhat where one can say that learn while you fun.
But it must be understood that while working during those few hours, you must be attentive, punctual and must show keen enthusiasm to learn because environment is something which all factors jointly create and interns are also a factor.
The unique and interesting feature is that the bench is quite cooperative, intern friendly and even Sir is easily approachable. His Lordship actively participates in the question answer sessions with interns.
But instead of that valuable practical knowledge, skills like quick catching power, decisive power etc. can be developed while interning here.
However a Certificate of Appreciation with regard to your internship is given by SCRDC to all interns.
Also, an intern has an opportunity to learn from Advocates / Lawyers, who plead in the court room and can make new contacts with them which can be helpful for life time. So, 3000 – 4000 bucks are nothing!
No problem! There are a lot of P.G. services for Boys & Girls near SCRDC in Sec 19 and Sec 7.
One can avail their services as per his or her budget. Well the estimated rent for 1 month is 4000 – 5000 rupees.
Students of 1st year can do internship here because its a quasi-judicial institution. Hence they would feel comfortable as an intern for the first time and can earn experience for upcoming internships.
However, SCRDC can also organise educational trips to High Courts and other institutions of law during the period of internship.
Therefore , I would recommend all 1st year students to come here and learn. Experience something new, you had never before!
