About the Webinar
The recent incidents of assault, criminal force and threats caused to Advocates, while they discharge their professional duties, have reached alarming heights. This has resulted in law and order situations and deficiencies in rendering professional services by Advocates to their clients, causing a profound sense of fear in the minds of Advocates. There are provisions in the law for the protection of judges and public servants. However, there are no such safeguards in place to protect an Advocate from crimes allegedly committed while discharging their professional duties.
The Bar Council of India took into consideration all the instances of threats against advocates and passed the Advocates Protection Bill, 2021 on July 2, 2021. The bill was drafted with an aim of providing protection to the Advocates and the removal of impediments to their performance of the duty. This webinar aims to address the need for this Bill to be implemented as an Act and the provisions given under it.
