RGNUL Patiala’s Parliamentary Debating Competition “Agahi” (March 8-10)

Agahi – 3rd RGNUL National Parliamentary Debate

We are back with the amazing experience that has come to be known as ‘Agahi’ in the Indian Debating Circuit.

After organizing two successful tournaments in the past and continuing with the tradition of excellent hospitality that ‘Agahi’ is synonymous with, the Literary and Debating Committee of Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Patiala, is pleased to invite your institution to the 3rd edition of the RGNUL National Parliamentary Debate, Agahi ’13.

We know that every debate tournament in the country cannot be the best and hence we’re not bragging. Yet, we promise to you an amazing experience.

Here are a few basic details about the tournament:

  • Final Dates: 8th March- 10th March, 2013
  • Format: 3-on-3 Asian Parliamentary Debate Format (We’re not mindlessly jumping on the BP bandwagon.)
  • Adjudicators: N=1 rule. Independent adjudicators are welcome, just that they should be enrolled in an undergraduate course

There is no institution cap at the moment, however, we do plan to reduce the number of teams from an institution to a rational number.

To add to the excitement of the tournament, the total prize money on offer this time is around Rs 1,00,000 (which is bound to increase once we finish with the process of roping in the sponsors) with prize money for top 4 teams, individual speaker and adjudicator prizes and cash for all breaking adjudicators (yes, you heard it right!).

The adjudication core is yet to be finalized, but we ensure you a top notch adjudication core which would be highly competent and vastly experienced. The adjudication core will be announced shortly.

In addition, we have a host of informal literary events for teams that, unfortunately, don’t break. Needless to say, these events have prize money too!

We assure you of great hospitality, great food and an awesome tournament! In short, we offer you everything that Punjab is famous for!

Total fee: Rs 1200 per person, debaters and adjudicators alike.

Further details on registration, the adjudication core along with the individual prizes will be announced shortly. We do, however, request that you send a mail to literarycommittee@rgnul.ac.in registering your interest in our tournament.

We’re excited and we hope to see you in March!
