About Indian Society of International Law (ISIL)
The Indian Society of International Law (ISIL or Society), a premier national institution for teaching, research and promotion of international law, was established in 1959, primarily due to the efforts of the late V.K. Krishna Menon. It has indeed been a long and fulfilling journey for ISIL that it has earned a pride of place among the community of international lawyers throughout the world.
About the International Environmental Law Course
The course is the first of its kind in India, which covers all the major issues affecting humankind – Air and Water Pollution, Climate Change, Loss of Biological Diversity, Ozone Layer Depletion, Sharing of International Waters and Dumping of Hazardous Wastes. The course is job oriented and it offers students and the others interested a clear understanding of what the following items mean to them in day-to-day life:
- National Green Tribunal
- Carbon trade & carbon tax
- Sustainable consumption and production
- Forests as life-giver and money maker
- Polluter must pay
- Environmental Impact Assessment
- Paris Agreement on Climate Change 2015
- Energy saving laws, principles and approaches
- Formula Relating to sharing of river water Greenhouse Gas Effect
- Climate Refugees
Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 6 PM to 7:30 PM
The faculty comprises experts drawn from JNU, DU, South Asian University (New Delhi) The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), University New Delhi, Indian Law Institute, New Delhi, Legal Officers from the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Environment and Forests, NGO leaders and the other legal practitioners.
Limited number of seats are available.
Admission is open on a first-come-first-served basis to graduates and to those with higher qualifications.
Second-year LL.B. Students are also eligible. Others interested are also welcome.
Application and Course Fee
- Application Form: Rs. 150 (available at the Indian Society of International Law Office Room no. 104)
- Course Fee (One-time): Rs. 9000 (A Draft in favour of the Indian Society of International Law)
Last date of admission has been extended till September 2, 2021.
