For getting an internship in PUCL, one has to send his/her resume along with cover letter to

Your cover letter should contain your college name, duration of your internship, one thing I will make it clear that Kavita ma’am is very particular about dates so the minimum number of days which are required here are 28 days.

This all has to be done at least a month prior to the period of internship.

Duration of Internship and timings

14 December 2015 to 12th Jan, 2016. 4 Weeks

Timings are 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.

However, this is subject to extension. 😛

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

The location of the office is not so simple so it wasn’t easy for us to get their but now the office is shift to some other place.

On the very first day it is compulsory to visit office for some formalities and after that it depends upon the nature of your work whether it requires office work or a field work.

There is no requirement of formal attire. It is a very friendly environment.

Main tasks

The task in PUCL is different every time, it depends upon the work which the organisation takes.

So for us, we conducted a survey regarding the implementation and awareness of sexual harassment committee in educational institutes and for this purpose we covered the educational institutes which includes colleges and coaching centers of Jaipur, Kota and on the basis of the data we collected, we prepared our reports.

Conducted a survey of the police stations and the analysed whether the operation of the Mahila Desk in police stations is efficient and effective or not.

Indulged in fact-finding and feedback on Dalit atrocities in remote villages.

Conducted a survey of the living conditions of the Rohingya Muslims who were settled in the suburbs of Jaipur as refugees.

Also, during my internship, they hold lots of sessions with eminent personalities, who are having expertise in their fields, to teach us the varied subjects of law and their pertinence in the present scenario.

We also watched some important documentaries and after that we used to share our views and have discussion on that.

We also attended many seminars on important issues.

Work environment and people

The work in PUCL requires lots of handwork. The environment in PUCL is very friendly. You will meet so many new-new people. You should experience it once.

You will make new friends there and plus the pink city is the best part of the internship.

Best things

According to me the best part of our internship was Jaipur streets and Jaipur food. The city is so beautiful that you will fall in love with that place.

Once you will go there, you will make friends and you can explore the city as much as you can and by the way which is again subject to Kavita ma’am. 😛

There are lots of things which are good about PUCL for eg. here you will learn a lot, the people there consider every-one equal, no unfairness on the basis of law-schools or any other criteria.

Bad things

According to me, nothing was bad about PUCL.

Biggest Lessons

During my internship I had a experience of collecting data at 2 am also, PUCL requires lots of field work. But one thing is sure that you wont regret it.

You should do an internship under PUCL atleast once to get experience of how actual world works. The lady you will meet there is Kavita Shrivastava.

She has such a dynamic personality. You will learn so many things from her. The one thing that she will surely teach you is punctuality. 8 am means 8 am. 😀

You can easily get an accommodation near the office and for this Pappu Bhaiya will help you. Pappu bhaiya is one of the most important person in PUCL. You will get to know him once you go.

In the confirmation mail to the internship application, PUCL officials ask about the accommodation requirements, and if, anyone requires then they provide them with the decent accommodation at a reasonable price.

Office Timings

9 am to 5 pm, which is again subject to extension depends upon your work.

Sometime you have midnight.
