The vision of the Centre

MNLU Mumbai’s Centre for Arbitration and Research (CAR) seeks to serve as a think-tank to generate awareness about arbitration law in theory and in practice and also carry out high-quality research in the field to assist policy-formulation by the Government.

The Centre also intends to serve as a platform for imparting professional training to the stakeholders in the field of arbitration and cater to all areas of arbitration especially the niche areas.

About the Event

MNLU Mumbai’s Centre for Arbitration and Research (CAR) is organizing its very first-panel discussion on the topic ‘Where do we go from here? – Future of Institutional Arbitration in India post the 2019 Amendment’.

The Arbitration and Conciliation (Amendment) Act, 2019 introduced numerous changes in the arbitration scenario of the country with respect to the confidentiality of proceedings, time-limits, etc. However, the most significant change brought about was the introduction of the independent body called the Arbitration Council of India (ACI) for the promotion of arbitration, mediation, conciliation and other alternative dispute redressal mechanisms.

It is a unique independent regulatory body which is being touted as the next stimulus for the growth of institutional arbitration in India.

The panel discussion will feature eminent experts in the field of arbitration. The panel will be diversified to include experts from different walks of the profession including an arbitrator, a practitioner, an academician and others. This will allow for a highly insightful and intensive discussion from various perspectives of the experts.
