Student’s Name, College, and Year of Study

Mr. Siddharth R Gupta is the Partner of “SVS Attorneys” with his father Mr. Radhelal Gupta, an Advocate who himself has long reputed standing of 44 years at the Bar. The predominant practice of their offices is in the High Court of Madhya Pradesh with their offices headquartered in Jabalpur. He has frequent appearances (virtual in COVID-19 Pandemic) both before the Delhi High Court as well as the Supreme Court of India, as also before other Benches of High Court of Madhya Pradesh. He’s a graduate from NLIU, Bhopal of 2005 Batch.

Mode of the Internship

Due to the lockdown and travel restrictions in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic, I opted for the online mode of the internship.

27th November 2020 to 27th December 2020.

Application Process

I applied directly via mail by sending my CV at srg[at] with the subject: Application for online Internship. Thereafter, a telephonic conversation was scheduled. There’s a Pre Internship training & Orientation period of 6-7 days whereafter the internship is confirmed. If the performance during the Pre-Internship isn’t satisfactory, then it may be cancelled at that stage itself.

First Day Formalities and Initial Impressions

It being an online internship, my first interaction was with Siddharth Sir himself via telephone. I was asked about my course, my preferences and career goals. After that, I was briefed about the work culture and ongoing matters. Advocate Siddharth R. Gupta is very supportive and always ready to provide all the assistance required for tasks provided. The flow of work is unending and on occasions, I discovered myself working till 2.30 in the midnight with calls from my peer interns.

Main Tasks

  • Legal Research
  • Drafting work
  • Attending Virtual Court Proceedings
  • Research Article, Paper & Content Writing of research undertaken during the internship period. Minimum 2 articles in an internship of 45 days.

Good Things

  • Being a third year student, I was not aware about various fields of law but my legal knowledge has been widened by researching a diverse set of laws.
  • Practical learning experience, I was given a chance to read case files through online media and to get an insight into various areas of law.
  • You are treated not as an intern, but as Professional and made to work on same lines. If you don’t perform, then you perish automatically or stop getting work calls from Office. All in all an engaging and learning experience.

Bad Things

No bad things, except that the workload is acutely excessive. Not everybody can handle it. Standards of expectations are too high from the interns (at par with pass-outs), which makes selection process also very stringent consequently. Therefore don’t even think of applying if you lack the stamina to work endlessly and excessively and lacking the tolerance levels to be reprimanded for bad work. No mercy when it comes to performance and work. ‘There is no tomorrow in life’ is the thumb rule Siddharth Sir follows and therefore deadlines are pushed ruthlessly.’

5,000/- for a month paid after completion of internship duration. However the same varies from case to case subject purely to performance. It may go upto 7,500/- subject to exceptional performances for a period of 45 days.

Student Review

Internship at the SVS Attorneys is commendable. My experience has been very productive.

Other Information

I was also allotted a task to write an article on the subject I researched during my internship, thereafter Sir himself reviewed it and provided me with a valuable feedback. He advised me that it is important for a lawyer to develop good diction & vocabulary. Ergo, I was advised to keep on writing articles on various aspects of law to develop the skill of legal coherence.
