Duration of the Internship
29th April 2020 to 27 th June 2020 (eight weeks).
Timings: 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
Nature of the Internship
This was a remote internship based on the work- from- home model, originally scheduled to last one month. Extension of this duration depends on the quality of work.
First Impression and First Day Formalities
On my day of joining, I got a call from Ms. Manjari Mukherjee, a senior associate at the firm, who asked me about my work experience, introduced me to the people and practices of the firm and told me what was expected of me. I was assigned work right away.
The interns are required to sign a Non- Disclosure form. The work is assigned via e-mail, or on call.
Majorly, I worked on interesting Trademark and Copyright issues. I assisted on matters related to Disputes in Advertising, IPAB’s functions, Bank Guarantees in the time of COVID-19, to name a few.
I attended the proceedings in the Booking.com case which was heard in May, and it made history as the first US Supreme Court case to be heard via telephonic conferencing, broadcasted by media in real-time.
In addition to this, I was a part of continuous internal webinars for thorough discussions on the latest issues and developments in IPR Law and other leading issues.
The firm also has a practice where you can be asked to do a presentation on any contemporary topic, towards the end of your internship, which is attended by all the members of the firm and is very interactive.
Royzz and Co. has a very healthy and friendly work environment. All the associates and partners were easy to approach and very helpful. Interns are involved in all the group activities of the entire staff, such as the internal webinars and the occasional Game Nights on Saturdays.
I was very apprehensive of working as a remote intern for the first time, knowing that the firm I was going to be a part of was also new to adjusting to this kind of work model.
However, my experience was a boon in this time of crisis. It did not for once feel the distance was causing any problems for me as an intern, as I was getting sufficient amount of intriguing work. All my seniors provided very valuable feedback throughout my internship. It was an enriching experience and it is safe to say that this internship was one of the best utilization of time at hand due to this unprecedented COVID- 19 pandemic.

I am an army girl! In a barbie world! Keeper of 5 dogs. On a diet for now. Sometimes I might make punctuation mistakes, but I make up for it by bringing in a crore or two extra. What's more important, a misplaced comma, or a well-placed crore?
