I emailed them my CV and they were very prompt in replying. They took my CV in consideration and also asked me about the previous internship as well as some laws, which I am aware of. After then, they mailed me a research preposition which I had to submit asap.

Finally, they told me that my CV, research and the interview cinched it. The best thing was that they took me in on the merit of my application which shows the transparency as well as the consistency of the mentioned law firm in the selection process.

First day formalities, infrastructure, first impression

Due to nationwide lockdown, the internship was fully based on the virtual mode. The RAD & Partner internship was my first law-firm internship, I was a little apprehensive about the internship in the beginning. Gradually work started piling up along with that I did not even realize how I started enjoying the work.

There were no formalities in particular. The associates were young and nice and helped us settle in and told us about the work that they mostly do and what they would be researching on.

On the very first-day Advocate Deepak Sir [LL.M. (Comml Laws, P.U.), LL.M. (I.E.L., Warwick, U.K.), PIL (Harvard, USA)] met all interns on google meet and introduced us one case that was tabled by him before the Delhi High Court. My co-interns were also assigned to work on the same case.

Main tasks

I was lucky enough to deal with this case which was going on in Delhi High Court. The task of all the interns was limited to research where we all were supposed to cover all the pertinent questions and issues arising out of the case.

I was given loads of research work on various tasks relating to Contracts, Arbitration, Civil Procedure Code. Further, I was also asked to find the judgments using ManuPatra, SCC etc. The best thing was to do the presentation and briefing of the findings in the virtual meeting.

Good things

Advocate Deepak Sir has throughout been a source of inspiration, an ideal, a mentor and more importantly a concerned guardian who always has his valuable inputs regarding the development of a certain set of skills that each lawyer should possess.

Interning under the supervision and guidance of Advocate Deepak Sir, was one of the good things. All the interns who were interning there were senior to me. But the best thing about that sir that he never neglected me rather asked me many things to do. I was given the opportunity to get involved, even more than I ever imagined. I always felt like I was part of them. I gained a lot of confidence there in public speaking and presenting matters.

Also, the associates of RAD & Partners truly deserve a great amount of appreciation and gratitude for their heartfelt hospitality and for clearing our all doubts every time. They are very approachable, thoroughly driven by their work and very willing to both, teach and learn. I got guidance when I needed it and also as much independence and space I needed to work.

It has sharpened my skills i.e. social communication, managerial, researching, advocacy etc and provided me with exposure to a wide variety of situations and circumstances where once I stood no chance to stand. It has significantly made my personality cult better, viable and more appropriate to my professional requirements, which would surely help me in my forthcoming days as a useful tool for passing in various fields that I have already gone through at surface level.

Bad things

No bad thing

No stipend

Accommodation, commuting to the office

It was an online internship.

The internship at RAD & Partners was my first law firm internship and it provided me with a chance to get practical knowledge of how work is done in the legal world.

When you make a contribution and are appreciated for your efforts, it’s as if you’re actually helping the issue although that might not be the case. Interning at RAD & Partners was truly an enlightening experience and has left a great impression on my mind. In all, you learn how to behave professionally, what to say, how to handle the problem etc. in the best possible way which would never be taught in your college.

Such should be learnt with utmost sincerity, discipline, dedication and ambition along with curiosity to learn more and to see more. I will forever be grateful to RAD & Partners, Delhi.

This is a suitable place for interns who are serious in their approach and have a passion for law.
