I had not done any internships in the first semester of my college life and was very keen doing at least an online internship and so did it happen. On the Internshala App, I got a notification that LexQuest Foundation was looking for Content Writers. I applied through Internshala, providing all my qualifications.
After that, I received a mail from LexQuest Foundation that I had been selected as an online research intern and was asked to confirm the dates of my internship which was from 1st January 2018 to 31st January 2018.
First Day Formalities Initial Impressions
This internship was going to be my first internship ever and so it was very special to me. I was both excited and scared at the same time as writing articles was not my forte and to add to the challenge, I will be very frank, my writing skills were also not up to the mark. But I wanted to learn.
After all, we have to come out of our comfort zones at some point in time. So, I applied for this internship as there is no doubt in the fact that in a profession like ours, writing skills are vital.
As I was selected as the online research intern, my main task involved researching on the various topics assigned to me and prepare an informative but analytical write up with a word limit of 100-1500 words keeping in mind the legal aspects of it. I was asked to not make the articles very technical and write in such a language that everyone can easily understand.
Also, as an important part of the internship, it was expected of me to read articles published on the lexQuest.in internship and work opportunities mentioned therein and like and share in pertinent groups and comment on the ones of my interest.
As my first task, I was asked to write an article on the Petya Ransomware Attack, keeping in mind the Cyber Law aspect of the same. I immediately knew that my article was to deal with some cyberattack that happened but I was clueless as to how to even begin because researching was a new thing to me and I was not very confident about my writing abilities. I began slowly and steadily learned the art of researching and writing articles.
During the period of one month, I was given the task of writing as many as five articles with specified deadlines, the last on being on the Triple Talaq Judgement. The LexQuest team was very encouraging throughout the whole process while precisely pointing out my mistakes in article writing and asking me to make the suggested changes.
As the end of my internship was approaching, I received a call from LexQuest asking me whether I wanted to continue with them or not. I agreed to continue working with them for writing articles and an Arbitration Course.
This was my internship of the firsts. It was my first internship where I was doing article writing and taking up research work for the first time. I learned a lot of things throughout.
I really liked how the LexQuest team was very accurate in whatever they did and were very specific about what they expected. They never hesitated in pointing out our mistakes while at the same time applauding us for our achievements. They are a great team of mentors.
At some point of time in the internship, I felt that there was some sort of a communication gap, both on my and their side, which made things a little confusing and ambiguous.
It was a work from home internship. So I simply sat on my bed with my laptop and did the assigned work.
Life is about experiences. Good or bad doesn’t really matter.
