First Day

The first thing interns at ONGC are required to do is to stand in a queue and get provisional passes. On my first day of the internship, I was briefed about the history of Oil And Natural Gas Corporation which is known as ONGC.

I was told about the different areas of the company. Further Mr. N.S.Sodha (Head of Legal Department) and Ms. Neha Sharma (Assistant Legal Advisor) explained me about the kind of work that ONGC Legal Department does. They also explained how matters are handled in the flow of a hierarchy and dealt with at each level of the company.

On my very first day, I was given the task of understanding and vetting of documents. This basically means that documents which are sent to the legal department from the concerned section are checked.

The details mentioned in the case were to be parallel with the documents produced as evidence. Thus, vetting of documents in this matter included checking documents related to a purchase order and the quality checks of the products.
