NILS Summer School on Competition Law 2015 [April 1-6, Kochi]: Register by March 25

The Network for International Law Students (NILS) in association with the National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS), Kochi, announces the first edition of the Summer School programme on Competition Law.

The Summer School will take place at the campus of NUALS Kochi from April 1 – 6, 2015.

This Summer Law School Programme offers the unique opportunity to receive intensive legal knowledge on Competition Law from prominent lawyers and professors.

The course will be divided into four parts:

1. A detailed analysis of the law relating to competition: Anti-competitive Agreements, Abuse of dominance and M&A. Student & faculty interaction to iron out confusions and misapplication of law

2. A review of the institutions and procedures by which competition laws are enforced in different jurisdictions. Student & faculty interaction to competition law related work

3. Regulation of business practices, cartels, predatory pricing, and essential facilities. Student & faculty interaction on practical case studies and overview of competition litigation.

4. Competition law & policy in a wider policy context. In this final part, students & faculty will consider the overlap, interaction, and friction between competition policy and other policy areas such as innovation, trade and development, media plurality and financial stability.

Classes: The programme shall have thirty hours of lecture spanned across five days. In addition to lectures, there shall be host of other activities like group discussions, paper presentations etc.

Venue: The National University of Advanced Legal Studies, Kochi

Accommodation: Accommodation shall be provided to students opting for accommodation in 3-star property, having air-conditioned rooms and free Wi-Fi facility.

Fee Structure:

Programme Fees (Students): Rs. 3,000/-

Programme Fees (Non-Students): Rs. 5,000/-

Accommodation Fees: Rs. 4,000/-

The entire fees for the programme would have to be paid at the time of the confirmation of admission.


The programme is open to both students and non-students. Applicants shall be admitted on first come, first serve basis. Students should send filled in application form and deposit the fees by 25th March, 2015 to secure their seat.

Prize Money worth INR 30,000 will be up for grabs for the best performing students. Subscriptions to legal magazines, online law courses shall also be provided to the best performing students.

Every student shall be provided with a Certificate of Programme Completion at the end of the Summer School programme.
