I had no clue about this internship when I applied for it. It was my friend who informed me about this internship and I applied for the same on November 11th 2015.

One can propose their own choice of date on which they would like to intern provided it should be minimum of 3 weeks.

Thereby I applied for 3 weeks from 28th December 2015 to 17th January 2016 which is on my winter vacation.

I got a call from NJA on second week of December. They said to me that I got selected for the internship and got confirmed my willingness orally. Based on that, I received my internship order via mail on the same day evening and I acknowledged the same.

Hence forth I booked my tickets. It was my dad who accompanied me to Bhopal since it’s very far from my place and important thing to note is that I don’t know to speak Hindi properly and can understand only to some extent.

Early Experience

It’s on 27th morning I reached Bhopal railway station and reached academy somehow by showing destination and route via Google maps to the driver since we had communication barrier due to language.

Students from outstation can mention the address as “Bhadbhada Road” which is easy identifiable location for the drivers than mentioning as “National Judicial Academy”.

On reaching academy, I have showed my internship order in the security desk so as to enter the academy. Then I reported to the Registrar of the academy since Director-in-charge was not present, to whom I was supposed to report.

As I was a residential intern, I have been directed to hospitality section through which I got my accommodation at NJA guest house.

It was a fully furnished twin sharing accommodation. I have no words to describe the accommodation.

It was awesome and sophisticated.

The massive Bhopal Lake is visible from the balcony of the room.

The next day was my first day of internship.

It’s best to read the joining guidelines before joining the internship which is provided in the NJA website.

On joining the internship I reported to Director-in-charge who assigned me the task of preparing an analysis report out of a verbatim report of P-942 and P-948 conference and also been made to prepare a report on courtroom technology workshop which has been published in NJA newsletter.

They also made me to assist in editing the newsletter.

Main Tasks

The main tasks given for interns are preparing a report out of verbatim report of the concluded conferences or workshops, task of rapporteuring for programmes, assisting in preparing study material for upcoming programmes, studying and analysing the cases of the Supreme Court and various High Court etc.

It was a good experience where one can get exposed to greater field of knowledge.

About the campus of the Academy, it is located on the outskirts of the scenic and ancient city of Bhopal on a beautiful hill overlooking at a distance the famous and stunning old lake around which the city of Bhopal is built.

The Academy campus is widely acknowledged to be the best judicial education campus in the world.

The academy has a well endowed library, conference and seminar rooms and a state-of-the-art auditorium.

The entire premise of Academy is very beautiful and pleasant. In other words, it gives feeling like someone is in Switzerland. Those who got internship at NJA are the blessed one to work in a eco-friendly, high-tech environment and also to admire and rejoice the beauty of such a wonderful place.

Work Environment

The Work Environment at NJA was good, all of them were extremely accommodating and will make us feel comfortable and at ease.

Best things

Best thing is about accommodation which was awesome and cool.

The campus was such a beautiful place where one can hardly pass through without clicking snaps.

The food they provided was good and tasty.

Since its buffet, we had variety of delicious dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Bad things

During the programming sessions, food will be available. For rest of the days, we were made to arrange food for ourselves on our own.

One can avail the services of external caterers for home delivery of food which seems to be too expensive and which is not affordable for a student. Since NJA is on outskirts, it’s difficult to get food nearby, for which we have to travel few kms to get some good food stuffs.

During my internship period I had to manage for a week after which I got food in the campus itself.

Since I had language barrier I got help of my co-interns to get food from hotels during that one week.

Residential interns will be entitled to a monthly stipend of Rs.5000.
