Model Youth Parliament is a platform where the youth engages in democracy by actively participating in the policy making.
With a view to set ‘policy’ as an agenda for youth, 1st MY Parliament, a 2 day event, will be organized on 27th-28th of September 2014 to acquaint Indian youth aged between 18 – 30, about functioning of our representative institutions and give them a first hand experience of policy making process.
There will be a discussion/debate on 4 bills:
1. Policy for FDI in retail
2. The Protection of Women Against Sexual Harassment At Work Place
3. Lokpal Draft
4. Food Security
This will be based on the model of our parliament. The concluded bills by participants will then be presented to the related ministries and prominent individuals such as the PM and the President.
Participants will also get chance to interact with the MPs during and after the event.

Candidates from across the country will be applying to the 1st MYParliament, as Member of Parliament
Selection of candidates
A Committee will be screening these applications and select deserving candidates under each ministry as delegates
Special Posts (Cabinet Minister and Prime Minister)
These delegates will be provided with a separate application form. Through interaction with common man, government offices, NGO’s, etc. they are to identify pain points in policy execution and suggest policy reforms that can counter this identified gaps.
Putting the Bill on the floor
The selected Bills in each sector, will form the agenda for discussion at the MYParliamentand each bill will be discussed clause by clause and debated on at the floor
Passing the resolution and forming the Legislation
At the end of every session when the debates on every clause has been uploaded, we open it for voting with comments, only to our delegate members, who are suppose to exercise their franchise within the next 24 hours
Once MY Parliament has come up with the final policy document, these policies with a citation from each mentor will be published in the form of a Gazette which we submit to eminent individuals such as: President, Prime Minister, Planning Commission of India , Innovation Council of India, etc.
