Duration of internship and timings
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
On the very first day there was not much work. We were told to make entries in the register. Being a first year student, I was nervous in the starting but fear swept away when i interacted with associates and other interns.
We went to the sessions court, high court and saw various court proceedings. We accompanied Mahesh Jethmalani Sir to the High court and Sessions Court and saw him arguing in a very well manner. It was something that everyone interested in litigation should observe.
My responsibilities included researching on various matters of Criminal Law, Company Law and Family Law. I researched on various high profile cases. Sometimes the tasks given were difficult also but we enjoyed doing that.
Work environment and people
My co-interns were very friendly and we used to chill out during free time. The people are very friendly and the work environment was very good. It was casual yet strict striking a great balance in the work atmosphere. If you are given a work then it should be completed on time. In those matters it is sometimes strict.
Going to the courts daily and getting the information on a matter was the best experience. Mahesh Jethmalani argues to the best of his abilities and therefore it gave me a chance to take note of all the good things.
There were many high profile cases that he dealt with and it gave us the opportunity to look into the first hand information of those matters.
Sometimes there was no work at all.
If you are really interested in litigation then you should here at least once. The real experience of the litigation world. It was overall a great experience.
I stayed in a PG. You can easily find the PG in marine drive which is near to the office. I stayed in Shaila PG which is considered to be amongst the best accommodation there. Food and everything was good and everything was available nearby.
Office timings were flexible from 10:30 am to 6 pm.
