How big was the office? Team strength?

The office is huge and beautiful. The office is located in Indiabulls Finance Centre, which in itself is a splendid building. The view from the balcony on the 20th floor is just beautiful.

The Interns usually get plenty of space to work, from your own desk, computer to, phone and water bottle. The team strength is approximately 50.

Application procedure. Internship contact details

Applied personally by sending the resume on  and received reply within a few weeks.

Accommodation: how, where, how was it?

I am a localite, so it wasn’t a problem for me. However one may seek accommodation in PGs and hostels via Just Dial.

First impression. First day, formalities etc.

It was a pleasant and warm experience on the first day. There were not many formalities as such except a casual, cursory introduction.

The HR interacted with us and explained the rules. He also allotted us the teams we were to work with. There is also a register of interns maintained by the office for the purpose of attendance.

Main tasks

Work was good at Luthra and Luthra, Mumbai and quite new and learning. You can divide your workload into two broad categories, research work and non-research oriented work such as due diligence.

Your time on average will be roughly spent equally on both. As far as the research work is concerned you will get some really interesting research questions.

The associates you work with always take out the time to explain what they’re looking for and give you the context in which you are researching.

They are extremely patient provided you are also meticulous with your work. Nobody expects you to spit out answers as soon as a question is thrown at you, take your time and work on it but be prepared when it’s time to discuss it with your team or associate.

The non-research work mainly includes due diligence work and document review.  I always tried to make my team’s life easier by taking on any work that they had.

This goes a long way to help your cause and to be honest they are entrusting you with a lot of responsibility, so even when you are proof reading a contract do it like you mean it.

Also, whenever you are free you are allotted work from other teams as the associates are always in search of an intern for loosening their workload. However, the associates always ask if you have any pending work before offloading.

 Work environment, people

The atmosphere at Luthra and Luthra, Mumbai is very healthy and chilled out. Mostly, all the associates are quite young, upbeat and spirited. Overall, the people here are friendly, helpful and co-operative as well and are ready to hear you if you have any problem.

I have been fortunate enough to be assigned to a team that took really good care of me.

Best things?

The best things about working at Luthra & Luthra, Mumbai would definitely be the work environment. The office is amazing and your colleagues are equally good to you. The associates never get on the nerves of the intern. The spacious infrastructure and a separate intern’s desk are also the good things.

The support staff at Luthra & Luthra, Mumbai is also equally helpful and very prompt to see to any requests you may have. They have a well stocked pantry with biscuits, chips and maggi, a fridge and microwave ovens for your lunch if you carry any and of course a coffee machine. A law firm is truly incomplete without a decent coffee machine!

If you are staying back in the office post 9:30pm, then the firm shall reimburse the dinner and the cab expenses. The law firm is accommodated with a well stocked library, which gives scope of good legal research. Also, the interns can access Manupatra from their desk making work a whole lot easier.

There’s also a really cool balcony where you can smoke which overlooks the Mumbai skyline, breathtaking to look at all those skyscrapers. Also, there is a lovely garden area, where one may have lunch too. It really gets you going, my favorite spot in the office.

Bad things?

There was no interaction with the partners.

What did you do to chill? Co-interns, colleagues

There is a Subway, Starbucks, as well as a large cafeteria on the first floor. The ‘Thali’ is really tasty.

Rs. 1400 for three weeks.
