Good things about the University based on your personal experience

Jamia University’s Faculty of Law is regarded as one of the most prestigious law institutions in the nation.

The faculty has experienced a steady rise in its national ranks, with the National Institutional Ranking Framework, Ministry of Education, GOI, ranking it as the 7th best law institute in 2021.

Jamia University has consistently been regarded as India’s finest central university in several rankings. The University received an A++ rating from NAAC in December last year, with a score of 3.61.

In a way, someone studying here would almost be deemed privileged.

One of its key advantages is its location, which allows students to live in the heart of Delhi and be close to some of the country’s most preeminent courts.

For many law students, living in Delhi is no less than a dream since it allows them to intern with some of the country’s most renowned lawyers and legal firms.

Another benefit of studying law at Jamia is that students from other faculties interact with one another, providing a diverse range of information that contributes to the intellectual development of law students.

This is the one edge Jamia has over any other National Law University in my opinion.

Apart from that, we have an excellent faculty with years of expertise in the domain of law.

The administration is also fine  We also have a dedicated team of non-teaching staff members that assist us when necessary.

Bad things about the University based on your personal experience

One of the negative aspects I’ve seen is that the faculty organizes fewer online activities.

Although there are debate and moot court committees, they have only arranged a small number of online activities.

This needs a bit of improvement.

How’s the faculty?

There is no denying that the faculty has some of the best professors in the country, with competence in a variety of legal subjects.

Every instructor is an expert in his or her subject.

They are also highly engaging with their students and helpful when needed.

What I liked best was that practically every instructor had his or her own WhatsApp group where they would keep students informed about things related to the subject and even beyond.

How’s the infrastructure? Mention some of the things that exist.

The infrastructure is excellent. The Law Faculty is a massive structure in and of itself. There is a Moot Courtroom, seminar halls, and all of the other necessities of an institute.

Apart from the University’s central library, which is one of the largest libraries in the country, the faculty has its own library.

Paid memberships to some of the major websites for research purposes, such as SCC Online, Manupatra, LexisNexis, Hein Online, and others, are supplied to all students for free as part of their online education.

In a nutshell, all required items of the highest quality care are available.

How’s your hostel experience?

Since March 2020, the University hostel has been closed. So far, I haven’t had the opportunity to stay at the hostel.

According to what I’ve heard from seniors, the university’s hostel accommodations are both affordable and nice.

How are your peers?

Despite the fact that our whole batch’s education has been completed online, I have met some of the brightest minds here.

Everyone appears to be equally talented, and you can learn a lot from each of them.

The fact that many students came to Jamia’s Faculty of Law after leaving National Law Universities and other eminent institutions demonstrates their abilities.

Save from a few exceptions, most folks are kind and helpful.

Our seniors are wonderful people, but they engage with their juniors less frequently.

At the outset of our semester, we held a few ice-breaking sessions with them. We also have a committed group of juniors who are always willing to learn from us.

How are the placements in your college?

Placements in college, based on what I’ve heard from seniors, were not always excellent for every student. Despite this, many of them are placed quite well every year.

How are the co-curriculars in your college?

The Faculty of Law has established a Legal Services Clinic with a whole range of legal aid programs on the agenda.

In fact, the students of our faculty undergo training for Para-Legal Volunteers under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority.

The students have also been participating in Moot Courts, Client Counseling, and other literary and debating activities and win laurels.

Though fewer of these activities are organized online by the faculty, the students of our faculties are provided with the basic necessary facilities to develop their curricular and co-curricular abilities.

Besides focusing on an overall personality development so as to face the challenges in the competitive world.

What are some of the things you’d advise to a 1st year aspirant who enters your college?

Jamia’s law faculty offers a superb infrastructure, a good faculty, plenty of resources, and all you need to succeed in the legal field.

I was also a little apprehensive about deciding on a non-NLU college.

But, because of the advantages Jamia provides, I am satisfied with my decision.

Jamia Millia Islamia’s Faculty of Law is undoubtedly one of the leading legal education institutions in the country.
