Good things about the University based on your personal experience

The campus has a good infrastructure facility. There is an excellent library with an exclusive floor for law.

The University has subscribed to a quality pf journals and legal databases. The Chanakya Block (the law Block) is also well equipped and furnished.

The faculties are knowledgeable, friendly and approachable.

SASTRA encourages students for mooting a lot and students get good opportunities for training themselves with moots.

SASTRA also organizes knowledge leadership forum lectures often, by which the students get opportunity to listen to jurists, eminent advocates, judges, etc.

The campus also has good canteens. There is a canteen by the name Krishna canteen, where we can get good quantity food for a very reasonable price.

The University is well connected, there are a lot of trains and buses both for Thanjavur and Trichy (nearby city).

Similarly Trichy is well connected by air.

Since the University is situated at the National high way, there are frequent government and private buses plying, thus making the University very approachable.

Bad things about the University based on your personal experience

I found two bad things in the University, when I was a student:

1. The University Hospital – The hospital was in a very bad condition, lacking necessary facilities.

The doctors were sometimes unresponsive, and the pharmacy did not have the medicines prescribed by the doctors. (The situation might have changed after CoVID, however, my experience was before the pandemic).

2. The administrative staff, University Bus staff were mostly rude to the students.

I have also heard that the Hostel department staff were rude to the students sometimes. (I left the University hostel after a brief period of stay and became a day scholar)

How’s the faculty?

The faculty is good. There are very experienced, qualified and sincere at their work.

As it happens at all schools, there were a few faculties who lacked hold on the subject they dealt with and unresponsive to students.

However, that was an exception and generally the faculty are good.

How’s your hostel experience?

I was a hosteller for a very brief period. So, I am not the best person to comment on it.

But, I do have a general opinion about the hostel, and it could have been better.

I felt that the rooms could be much spacious and the quality of food could have been better.

How are the placements in your college?

The University focused, more, on campus placements for the engineering students.

The placements for law students should be better, however, it wasn’t the worst neither.

There were students who got placed at good places, but I feel the placement initiative should be better.

What are some of the things you’d advise to a 1st year aspirant who enters your college?

Go inside the campus with an open and positive mind. The campus is quite big and you can enjoy.

The faculties are very generic and are really good.

Please make sure that you are punctual to classes, as the Dean is very strict on this point.

Similarly, strictly follow the dress code, the University is very particular about it.

If you are going to be a hosteller, just take the basic things like clothing, laptops, etc.

There is a good stationery shop inside the campus, where you will get almost everything that you might need.

Similarly you can buy a mattress, buckets, mats, etc. inside the University itself.

On the other hand, if you are going to be day scholar there is nothing to worry about.
