About Prof. Ved Kumari
Prof. Ved is a Professor of Law in Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, India since 2001 where she joined as lecturer in 1985. She was the Chairperson of Delhi Judicial Academy from July 2009 to July 2011.
She was a Fulbright Fellow in Vanderbilt University, USA, in 1997, and team-taught a seminar course on Children and the Law with Professor Susan Brooks. She was also a Commonwealth Fellow in Warwick University in the UK in 1998, and did post-doctoral research on Juvenile Justice in the UK.
Prof. Ved committed to promoting Justice in Legal Education by by highlighting issues relating to gender discrimination, poverty, human rights violations, children’s rights, etc.
The webinar will be based on the following themes/questions:
What is meant by ‘law is male‘?
How are the gender-neutral provisions in the IPC not gender-neutral?
How does criminal law construct ‘woman’?
What has been the contribution of lawyers in developing feminist lawyering in India?
