Kshitij: 12th Annual Techno Fest of IIT Kharagpur 2015 [Jan 30-Feb 2]

Kshitij, the annual techno-management fest of IIT Kharagpur, has completed its eleventh edition positively. The tiny flame, which was illuminated by an aspiration to provide an ideal platform for emerging scholars, has now emerged as a colossal firestorm spreading its impact over the nation and beyond.

Kshitij that started with a trifling participation of a few hundred students now stands firmly, with no other contender in the entire Asian continent. Like every year, this year also, Kshitij has continued its tradition to grow exponentially, as it procured a participation of over 65,000 students and offered a net prize money of worth over 60 lac rupees.

Even the official website of Kshitij, is the largest student run website which got a striking 8M visit in a single year, which itself is a remarkable achievement.

Gaining patronage from UNESCO for second time consecutively reflects the kind of impact Kshitij has made on today’s student community. The profusion of events encompassing diverse brackets of technology, management and law, coupled with congruous rewards, incorporating online as well as on spot and submission events; provide unmatched opportunity to young talents to compete and excel in their field of interest.

Certification of these events by globally acclaimed organizations like ACM, ASME, AIChE, ASHRAE, IMechE, IEEE, INCOSE clearly speaks of the quality of the participation.

Flagship events include Laws of Motion, Race Pulse, Overnite, ASME SDE, B-Plan, Embetronix, IDP, Verdict, IDP, Night Shift and Delta Surge.

Comprehensive workshops by industrial pioneers, gives inimitable insight to the practical realm. Kshitij 2014 comprised workshops from trendsetters like Honda, Mozilla, Nvidia, Technophillia etc. Pedagogic and inspirational guest lectures from reknowned scientists and eminent personalities gives a new perspective to an individual.

Eleventh edition of Kshitij was grateful to have people like Mr. Nawazuddin Siddiqui, acclaimed actor; Ms. Shazia Ilmi, social activist; Mr. Amitabha Ghosh, chairman, Mars Rover Mission, NASA and others as its guests. Phenomenal exhibitions from various parts of world makes young talents acquainted with latest technical advancements.

Exhibitions for this year comprised Puzzlebox Orbit (USA), Face Android (Italy), Touchwall (Austria), NAO Robot (New Zealand), Talking Robot (Japan), Paper Tab (Canada), Miniature Models and Swarm Robotics (India).

Apart from being a techno-management fest, another aspect of Kshitij is its social initiatives, with an aim to create awareness in today’s youth towards social issues. This year, initiatives were taken in association with N.G.O.’s as drishti, E.B.A.I. and PETA India to encourage eye donation and ethical treatment of animals.

These attributes entice the young brilliance towards a distinctive platform to emanate at a global   level. The astounding stretch of Kshitij leaves lifetime impression on the fortunate ones who engaged themselves with this ferocious venture. Thus earmarking Kshitij, an unparalleled stature in the technical world.

Kshitij is now treading towards its twelfth edition and assures to provide students with the platform they are worthy of, to exhibit their technological and managerial skills as it has in previous editions. This stunning swathe of Kshitij will be further elevated by introduction of theme, which is “Celebrating 100 years of Relativity” for the upcoming edition.
