Name of the Student
Dr.B R Ambedkar college of law, Andhra university, Visakhapatnam
3rd year (5th semester)
NAME OF THE ORGANIZATION
Kochhar & Co. Hyderabad
DURATION OF INTERNSHIP
28th December 2015 to 22nd January 2016
LOCATION AND ADDRESS
Office is located in Jubilee hills which is the most expensive and commercial posh pockets of Hyderabad, so finding office is quite easy, if not GPS would get you to the exact location as that what I have preferred that moment as the place was new.
Plot No.1263-A/1, Road No.63A, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad-500 033, Andhra Pradesh
I applied by sending my resume to their email id and followed up by phone call to the HR, though I applied 2 months before I made up a call one week before of my vacation in which is around 2nd week of December and thereby I was asked to send my resume once again and then was asked to join on 28th December.
INTERNSHIP PERIOD AND TIMINGS
Period of internship was 4 weeks i.e., 28th December 2015 to 22nd January 2016. A part from first Saturday remaining Saturdays are holidays.
Generally timings are from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, but I used to leave by 4: 00 or 4: 30 PM around as I stayed at my friend’s residence which is almost far away of approx.25 km from office which actually takes 1 or 1 1/2 hr, so I was allowed to leave an hour before.
FIRST IMPRESSION, FIRST DAY FORMALITIES, INFRASTRUCTURE
The office was a mediocre one with good infrastructure with two conference halls. There was a good library and collection of books of certain most company and labor laws with some magazines.
Luckily my co intern was my friend. We have both joined on the same day. On our first day as the HR was on leave we were introduced in the office by on one of the staff (accountant). We have met the senior partner of the firm initially and all the associates later.
We were given worksheets to record the day to day work. You will be provided with a desktop and table or it’s even good to carry your laptop. Everything went on so cool on our first day, might be because everyone was friendly made us the feeling.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PEOPLE
The day I have joined gave me heebie jeebies as that was my first intern. One of the associates Amarendra initially made me so comfortable that I lost that feeling of butterflies in stomach and he gave me a bird view on what actually the firm does.
As Kocchar was a corporate firm it deals with certain labor and commercial laws in respective to the mergers and acquisitions, litigation, real estate, IPR, etc. I have covered almost all the associates throughout my intern and worked on various topics.
Mostly, I had loads of research and only research work. You will not find all the people at the firm look sincere not on any cost towards their work of 25 days I being there observed that made me look down to the minute. But other them, it will be a very good place for the interns.
Firm will make you feel that you are learning more than working for them this, was the best part.
WORK ASSIGNED TO ME
- Researched and worked on labor and employment laws of various states in India,
- Legal provisions against ADR mechanisms, Indian Contract Act, National green tribunals, Right to information act.
- I have also researched on the case laws relating to mortgage deeds and agreements of sale in respect of real estate transactions.
No stipend. But more of it you will earn knowledge which cannot be learnt through books and at the universities but only rather by experiencing.
OTHER INFO AND CHILL TIMES
Accommodation wasn’t a problem for me as I stayed at friend’s place. But you will get the best PG’s around the office, as the area demands .As of Lunch some days I used to get the box, a part of it I used to chill out with friends, during lunch time as there are lots of places you can visit each day.
For coffee lovers star bucks is 5 min from the office. Exactly beside the office there is a café called Butter you can get sandwiches and pastries. You can even find south Indian meals at the end of the office lane. So finding for a good restaurant or café was an easy task.
