By: Palak Pathak | March 23, 2016
Intern’s name

Name: Mukesh Kumar Vashisht

Name of College: Punjab School of Law, Punjabi University, Patiala.

Year of Study: 2015-16

Exact Duration of the Internship

January 11th, 2016- January 31st, 2016.

Name of the Organization, Location & City

K & S Partners, IP Law Firm, Gurgaon.

Date, Timing, Duration of Internship

3 Weeks. 5 days a week.

They have a great working style.

They start at 9 am and you are also expected to be on time i.e. 9 am sharp and they generally leave at around 5 pm.

Application process and Contact Details

They generally take interns from fourth year but if you have a contact you can find a way into the Firm.

The Internship needs to sent at least four months prior to the desired time slot.

The HR Ms. Sabri Ghosh is pretty quick in reverting back to the mails.

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

They operate in proper corporate style. You need to meet the receptionist and sign all the documents.

The HR introduces you to your mentor. You are required to sign a confidentiality agreement too for not circulating their private information.

An internship worksheet is given to the interns at the very onset in which you are required to fill the day to day tasks assigned by your Mentor and you need to also get your mentor’s signature.

Main Task or Activity

There is a wide range of tasks that an intern is supposed to do.

They generally start with basic provisions as in you are supposed to go through the main provisions of the Act you will be dealing with during your internship.

Primarily the tasks include, perusal of case files, drafting and relevant research. Finding case laws and relevant provisions of law for cases were major part of tasks.

Working Conditions, Environment & people

The work environment is amazing. I personally would like to intern there again.

The people are very congenial. All the Associates, Partners, Interns and other supporting staff eat lunch together in the dining hall.

The associates/mentor are warm and take extra effort to explain the question of law to the interns.

They explain the errors and ways to improvise. It was an amalgamation of all talents.

I stayed at my relatives place in Lajpat Nagar and used Delhi Metro for commuting. The office is less than a kilometer from the Huda City Metro Station.

Though couple of my co-interns were staying in nearby PGs.

There are quite a number of PGs available in that area so accommodation is not an issue

Good Things

Almost everything! They provide the interns and everyone else with a sumptuous meal everyday with all variety of foods. Chicken is in the menu on Fridays so all the Chicken lovers don’t miss your internship on Friday.

The best part was you get an opportunity to interact with the Partners during lunch break as you never know the person sitting next to you may be the Managing Partner. They all are very friendly and frequently initiate the conversations.

There is a CCD coffee machine and you have all the brightly coloured coffee mugs which just enhance the sipping experience.

The magnificent office, great working style, proper organization and good people make a perfect internship experience.

They are good with timings as they leave the interns by 5:00 pm.

Bad Things

No Stipend

Personal Experience / Biggest Lesson

Though I am yet to study IPR in my regular curriculum I found it pretty interesting and upcoming too.

Biggest lesson was that discipline and hard work can give you edge over others.
