Duration of Internship and timings

18th May, 2015 to 18th June, 2015

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

I started interning at NANAVATI ASSOCIATES for a month from 18th May 2015 to 18th June 2015 under the guidance of the Associate Lawyer, Mr Raheel Patel.

It being a corporate firm gave much apprehension regarding the Contract and Company laws.

Working with Nanavati Associates, it being one of the leading firms in India, was indeed a dream.

It was a four-floored building with the essence of corporate and executive culture.

When the ambience holds you spell-bound how can you think of not working there?

Main tasks

Every day I was given a task regarding the company law, SEBI Act and contracts.

It could be anything, say, finding case laws, going through the judgements or the applications filed.

Also, I learned to draft certain agreements. I was asked to make timeline and analyse them for some 50-60 files. I was asked to visit the High-court with my mentor associate.

Hence I visited High Court for 8 days to accede to the proceedings. It was compulsory to visit for I was to answer questions regarding the same, once I reach office the next day.

Work environment and people

The working environment: It was quite decent. Mr Praneet Nanavati, the CEO was quite polite, friendly and approachable. My mentor Associate was a bit stern. However, that gave fruitful result in the end.

Best things

There was a separate library for students where the interns were supposed to read and work under the constant watch of CCTV camera.

Praneet Nanavati had his office next to us for he was always there to guide us when required.

I got to learn ample of things practically which books often fail to teach.

Bad things

The stipend was not provided. The certificate of excellence was given at the end of internship.

Biggest Lessons

That I can assimilate then and now is the working mechanism of corporate bodies.

I endured the practical vision of working in corporates for the future journey that I am to embark.

My family resides in Ahmedabad for I had no such issues regarding accommodation.

Office Timings

I had my internship timings from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
