Jagriti Yatra is a 15-day long, national train journey that will take you 8000 kilometers across the length and breadth of India, to understand and build the India of smaller towns and villages through enterprise.
You will meet role models, change-makers, leaders that started out on a journey just like you and made a difference to thousands of lives. You will forge bonds with like-minded young leaders- your co-Yatris and complete strangers. They will become your closest friends and comrades for life. You will be exposed to role models who are building India through enterprise; through them you will find inspiration to undertake your own building journey.
Jagriti focuses on the seven verticals of development
Water & Sanitation
Arts & Culture & Sports
Within this agenda, Jagriti is focused on the adaptation and replication of successful enterprise models across Middle India.
Jagriti Yatra aims to nurture 1 Lakh (1,00,000) entrepreneurs by 2022 and create 10 Lakh (10,00,000) jobs in this process.
About the Journey
You will spend 15 days on the train! The organizing team, volunteers and the support staff – all live in the train for complete 15 days. The organising team assigns compartments to the Yatris before they board the train.
Male and female Yatris are housed in separate Non-AC bogies. Between these two Yatri sections are the organising team compartments and the seminar section (AC chair car).
Two special bogies on the train (separate for male and female Yatris) are converted into bathrooms. These have cubicles to maintain privacy and adequate water is provided. Since water supply is limited, there are designated times during the day when Yatris can use the bathing facilities.
The train has a full-fledged pantry car. Vegetarian food is provided through breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner. All meals are freshly prepared, with proper hygiene, and served on the train in each bogie.
If required, meals may be distributed in packets at destinations after deboarding the train. Bottled water is also provided through regular distribution of water. No outside food is allowed on the train due to risk of food poisoning.
