How big was the office? Team strength?

Small and not sufficient enough to accommodate 30 – 40 people who were working there.

Application procedure. Internship contact details

A mail to the authorities followed by a call and leave it to them to decide and inform you. Details are available on the website of West Bengal State Legal Service Authority.

Accommodation: how, where, how was it?

I was staying in a paying guest accommodation in B.B.D bagh.

It was good and the room rents were reasonable.

There are many places to roam around and enjoy the beauty of the city. In Kolkata it is not difficult but really easy to find a paying guest for an intern.

First impression. First day, formalities etc.

The first impression was really bad, not at all good.

There was no proper arrangement at the conference room of the West Bengal Legal Services Authority.

The room was not big enough and was very messy and the things, registration desks, chairs were old enough to make the Internee feel sad about the place from the very beginning of the internship.

The interns were introduced to the head and then they were distributed and the work was allotted to them , the interns were warmly welcomed on the first day though.

Main tasks (in detail)

There were listed places like jails, child welfare centers and various other NGOs were the interns were supposed to go, take a round, brief it up, report it to their in charges and lastly, last day the interns were supposed to write about all these visits in the report submission.

Work environment, people

There was no office work per say, it was more like a field work. you visit different places, the very internship period gets over from going to this to that place.

Although the work environment at office was way more disappointing then these visits to places.

It was easy to talk to people who were from nearby places as I originally belong to the city and can easily communicate with those people

Best things

The best thing which I find is a must for every State legal service authority is the proper planned schedule of internship which they give their interns on the very first day and you work accordingly.

Bad things

You were supposed to travel a lot and also you will be only tied after this and will gain no fruitful results after your hard work and you have to ask for more and more work.

It is from the first day of the internship is all about reading reports and remains the same till last day.

No scope for showcasing your research skills

What did you do to chill? Co-interns, colleagues

I and my co-interns used to go to GangaGhat. I had really good co-interns, who were also frustrated like me by NOT doing any work so we used to chill in nearby places a lot.
