Name. College. Year of Study: Ayush Rahi, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University , 1st year.
Name of the organization. City: Uttar Pradesh Human Rights Commission, Lucknow
How big was the office? Team strength? It wasn’t so big, there was total silence in the building everyone in their respective chambers. Two guys had to work together on a given project topic but unfortunately due to some reason my assigned partner left the internship. So, I had to work alone.
Application procedure. Internship contact details: Applied through sending C.V. email i.e. email@example.com then the shortlisted candidates was called upon for an interview.
Duration in weeks. No. of days/week. Timings It was a 4 week internship. We didn’t have to go every day, we were just called once after the interview to discuss about the progress we made in the project assigned.
Accommodation: how, where, how was it? There was no need of accommodation as I am myself from Lucknow. Also if you are not from Lucknow it is no problem as there is no regular attendance, so you can intern from your home i.e. outside Lucknow.
First impression. First day, formalities etc. First day I thought would be a great day that I will get to work in an office but alas! It wasn’t; only partners and the projects topics were assigned respectively, that’s all. Nothing special happened that I could share.
Main tasks (in detail): My task was to research and prepare project of about 20-25 pages on the given topic i.e. “HUMAN RIGHTS ITS-ORIGIN AND EXPANSION”. And I was said that it will be summarized and published in a newspaper, provided that they liked it.
Work environment, people: There was no such working environment, only the person who matter was your partner which I didn’t had, no one bothered to interact even on the first day; everyone seemed least interested. But fortunately I met a senior of my college interning there with whom could talk.
Best things? The best thing doing this internship was that if you just want to add more to your C.V. you can intern here, in fact there was no need to show yourself in office everyday just sit at home and complete your project and submit on the given date.
If you are living far away from home and missing home badly, you can here enjoy your vacation with your family and friend easily in your city.
Bad things? The bad thing about this internship was that you learn NOTHING!
Experience and knowledge at all except the project topic I got in their. No contacts were established, no working environment. There was nothing new that I could learn.
What did you do to chill? Co-interns, colleagues: Since I didn’t have to go every day, I usually was chilled all time.
Stipend/ month : No! There was no stipend.
Anything else you’d like to tell: For the people who just want to kill time and don’t want to do anything except chilling can go for this Project based internship you can easily apply in here and just gain a certificate.
But I’d rather say people not to go for this project based internship anywhere because there would be noting for you to learn, you won’t get any type of experience by sitting at home and completing the project. It is more likely a short cut to attain a certificate by just doing little.
Biggest lessons: That I will never again go for a project based internship just to add in my C.V.
