UNICEF, Lucknow

Application Process

According to the CV, got in through a reference.

Duration of internship and timings

5th June-5th July

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

On the very first day itself, we were briefed by the other interns who had been serving UNICEF before me, they told me about my work and accordingly asked me to start, the very first day onwards. There were no formalities, per se.

It’s a well built office in the Gomti Nagar area of Lucknow, and the infrastructure is decent. Inside, it looks like any other normal office.

Main tasks

Reading cases, analyzing them and submitting a case summary on every case given.

Work environment and people

The people there were extremely friendly, and were ready for assistance on anything that we had issues with. Be it a server issue, or a substantial case issue; someone or the other was always available to help us out.

Best things

Work environment is tiresome but fun.

Bad things

Daily commuting, since the office is in a slightly inaccessible place.

Stipend

None

Biggest Lessons

There is a lot of misery in the world, and not even amusing how we choose to ignore it. I saw a plethora of awful cases, like rape, molestation child abuse, and so on and this affected me deep within.
