First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

As a student studying in first year with only a fair idea of law and other legal aspects it becomes hard to expect anything positive. However, I must mention that reception that I received was very warm. I was not made to feel a part of the firm within just few days of joining but also was given support and encouragement not only by my senior but also the staff.

Talking about my first day, there were no special formalities that have to be fulfilled. The first day I was introduced to the working system, the work culture that is different in every firm. Apart from that I was shown the usual procedures that are followed.

The firm has been exceptionally been designed in a way that it caters in such a way that it accommodate associates as well as staff. There is adequate place to keep case files, books and utility. Apart from this there is also a bed rest in case anyone is suffering from a severe headache or burnout during stressful work.

Main tasks

Interning under a law firm in your first year is quite interesting. You not only get to learn the basic procedure but also understand the working culture and ethics that is involved while dealing with a case.

As a student of first year, the work will be mainly based on research, assorting cases and making case briefs. The work might also require a lot of reading going through the bare provision and making consider notes on the same.

Along with this there shall be frequent visits to the Court and also attend sessions with client which basically involves client counselling.

While I was interning I was given to research about various Acts and make notes and search for answers for the questions provided.

One of the most interesting aspect is that the work you do is compared to a set standard that provides some for improvement and better learning so that one can perform better in the future.

The work exposes one to the legal language used in the documents as well as used in the courts. The exposure adds on to the experience gained .

Work environment and people

The work atmosphere is welcoming and friendly. There was no problems faced as the staff and associates are ready to provide you with suggestions to improve and also help you when you aren’t able to move ahead with your work.

The work environment is quite and pleasant with minimum disturbance with people being helpful and kind the experience of interning for the first time becomes memorable.

Hard work and effort put in to complete the work is acknowledged. The quality of work submitted must be fair.
However it is suggest to have a good knowledge of English i.e., legal as well as formal language and also have a good hold in the regional language.

Best things

The best thing about interning here is the amount of practical knowledge that one gains after the completion. A person who is completely unaware of certain basic legal aspects becomes well accustomed to the same .

Additionally, the quality of work given keeps one interested and would look forward to learn new things everyday. This internship has indeed awoken the passion to learn more and male progress in the field.
Such experience trains one to be better moulded in the coming years.

Bad things

There are no negatives that can be mentioned.

Some may find the timings taxing however it is expected that a law firm which deals in so many areas is always packed with work.

No stipend

Biggest Lessons

One learns through experience and interning gives you an extra edge to gain more exposure.

The internship has become a source of inspiration to pursue my career. It has prepared me to face people with confidence.

It taught me that one must be approachable and that one is humble and hardworking.

Additionally, the internship has helped me understand that hard work always brings desired results and the same will be appreciated.

It has motivated to aspire to improve on my legal language which is very essential aspect of the profession.

Any Other Thing

The experience as been wonderful . The Partners of the firm are highly knowledgeable and have a broader outlook on very issue. Every conversation is intellectually stimulating.

This interning experience has not only made me passionate about my law and filled me with experience but also has made it memorable.

Overall Rating

I hail from Bangalore and the place of internship was close to my residence. I commuted by public transport.

Apart from that in case there is any necessity of other accommodation there are paying guest houses in and around the area that offer a decent price and a good place to stay.

Office Timings

The official timings is 9.00 am to 8.00 pm . The timings are flexible according to the work. Work from home may also be expected.
