State Consumer Dispute Redresal Commission, Punjab.

Application Process

I had applied through my friend who has personal contacts there. So I also don’t have any contact details of anyone there. But it was really worth interning there. But I have the contact of one person whom we met at the District Forum when we were sent there.

Duration of internship and timings

2nd January, 2014 to 13th January, 2014

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

It was a big building. On the first day itself, we were first sent to the District Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum, Mohali for firstly having the basic knowledge about everything. The infrastructure was like any other government office.

As we had gone there through personal contacts, so we didn’t have to do much of the formalities.

Main tasks

There were two main tasks which we used to do:

1. Observing the Court proceedings

2. Reading the cases

We also used to discuss those cases with the President and members of the Court and they clarified us on various points which we came across while observing the proceedings.

Work environment and people

The people were very hard working there. The work would usually get over by three in the afternoon. So, they used to leave us by three. We enjoyed while we were there as we had got something new to learn.

Best things

The best thing was the interaction with the officials of the Court. They used to enlighten us about the proceeding and the working of the Commission as well as the Forum. They also used to clear our doubts.

Bad things

There was only one bad thing that we faced that there was very informal atmosphere as we had gone there through contacts. If we would have gone there through a formal procedure, may be we would have been able to learn more because of some strict environment.

No, there was no stipend.

Biggest Lessons

I learnt one thing which is, to go in every possible depth of a topic and understand that. Don’t read it just as a formality.
