Application Process with contact details

I had applied for my internship in the month of March. The application was mailed to the HR of the firm, Ms. Manu Goel on her email

I had attached my updated Curriculum Vitae, also the cover letter formed the body of the mail. The initial application made was for the month of July, 2016 but eventually i was offered internship for the month of August.

Duration of internship and timings

I joined the office on August 22,2016 . My internship finished on September 2, 2016. Initially, the internship is given for two weeks, however we can further extend it to three weeks or so.

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

On the first day, the interns are asked to report at 10:00 AM in the conference hall. The HR briefs them about the office and a short presentation on the working areas of the company is given. A separate trainee email id is provided, and everyone is allotted a team to work with. The interns either sit in the interns’ area or with their respective teams.

Main tasks

I was allotted Competition law in the firm. It is one of the best teams to work with in India. The work given to the interns is diverse. I was mainly given research work. The basic case-law research, market research etc forms the cornerstone of the general research work.

The general corporate work includes due diligence of the companies, the favorable market standards for mergers and acquisitions, proof reading of documents. There are deadlines to meet, one should try to do the best work in less time.

The area of the work is dependent on the team you are allotted. Most friends in the litigation team used to got he court, on the contrary I went to the court just once. Thus, you should choose the team carefully on the basis of the interests. At the end of the internship, the worksheet form is submitted. I will suggest to fill the worksheet simultaneously, so that you don’t lose track of the work given.

Work environment and people

The work environment in the office is very warm and appreciative. The associates are really encouraging, they are always ready to address the issues and also to help. The library serves as the best workstation with a rich variety of books. The ambiance is very calm with everyone around and discussing solutions.

At times, the associates come and talk with interns over coffee and guide them with the future internships. The best part is, even in the short span of 15 days, they make you feel as a part of their office. I worked as a member of the office and not as an outsider.

Best things

Every floor has a coffee point, where you can chill and take a break from the work. There is also cab facility available of the office which drops people in the evening to the metro station. The office really cares about the safety of the interns and arranges for the cab as and when required.

There’s a dhaba nearby the office, which serves good desi lunch. You get the whole hour for lunch, thus you get to work in a relaxed manner. There’s also an extension number provided to the interns, for the ease of the communication.

Bad things

The only thing which irks about the office, is the place it is located in. The Delhi office is in the industrial area of Okhla. The place isn’t safe at all, so you have to make sure that you leave office timely.

There’s no stipend paid during the course of the internship.

Biggest Lessons

The internship has taught me a lot. The firm taught me to work in an organized manner, and gave me an exposure in the different ways to approach a research topic. For example, I did not know about the NACE code research, my team taught me the same. The kind of the work, the interns are engaged in makes you feel confident.

You should always be upfront for the tasks. Time management is an asset. Always remember to do every minute work with utmost dedication. They monitor you for every work , thus be careful and polite. Try to learn as much as you can. do not feel shy in asking anything.

Any Other Thing

Work hard with passion, the firm values diligent people.

Overall Rating

I am from Delhi, so I was putting up at my place in Vasant Vihar . It used to take me one hour from Vasant Vihar to reach Okhla by metro. First, i had to change at Central Secretariat for the purple line. The packed coaches in the morning make the journey really hectic. One should always take a margin of half an hour and should leave home well before the time.

Office Timings

The office starts at 10:00 am usually, but it is suggested that interns should reach before their respective associates. There is a strict adherence to the timings because, interns have to write a morning as well as evening email to give the associates a track of their time.
