There are two partners- Mr. Siddhartha Dutta and Ms. Sakshi Mehra; a Principal Associate, a couple of Senior Associates and 7-8 Associates.
I had applied for the Delhi office at their mail id: firstname.lastname@example.org
However, due to lack of vacancies, I was offered either for the Ahmadabad or Kolkata Office, to which I chose the latter.
It required good number of follow-ups and later I was confirmed after having submitted a duly filled Questionnaire, which forms the basis of selection.
Initially I was offered a 2 week internship, which was later extended on request.
Duration of Internship
12th – 28th June, 2017.
Timings and Location
You are supposed to reach the office by 10 am sharp and office timings went on till 6:30 pm in the evening.
On a regular basis it used to extend till 7:30 pm and on one rare occasion I had to stay-back till 9:30 pm due to urgency of the task assigned.
The firm is located near the Minto Park Crossing. It is on the 3rd Floor of the Anandlok Building, which is situated on the AJC Bose Road.
I reached around 9:30 am on my first day and was made to sit in the library-cum interns room. Mrs. Suparna, the HR of the firm, came around 10 am and I was called upon to meet her.
I submitted the documents that were asked for by the firm which included my mark sheets, proofs of previous internships and photographs. I was also made to sign a few documents pertaining to certain terms of the firm.
After complying with the formalities, I went into the block where all the associates sit in order to ask for work and was given to research upon the applicability of JJ Act, 2015 to foreign citizens.
I submitted my note within 3-4 hours and was appreciated for the task by the associate.
That made it a good start for the internship. I was given two more tasks, one pertaining to Company Law and other was in order to search for the SC Judgments which have followed a given set of decisions on day-1 and I made sure that I finished them before calling it a day!
The Infrastructure was decent. The office has 2 separate blocks on the same floor. One contains the cubicles of associates and the chambers for the Partners, alongside having a printing section.
The other block had a reception area, a conference room, a lunch-smoking room, a library-cum interns room and a store room where all the files are kept.
Throughout the internship it was basically research works.
I was given assignments to research upon various areas of law including Company Law, Mineral Laws, Constitutional Laws, Arbitration Act, Banking & Insolvency Laws, Competition Laws, Service Laws etc.
Apart from research work, interns were also to tasked with making summaries of various letters of correspondences pertaining to the ongoing matters and also preparing of List of Dates was a common phenomenon.
