You need to send your CV to the HR in-charge at well in advance, i.e. at least 3-4 months.

The subjects you have studied plus your desired period of internship needs to be mentioned. The CV should have explicit details regarding your educational qualifications and prior internship experiences if any.

A constant follow-up with the HR person is a must.

Duration of internship and timings

I had interned with them in the month of August from the 1st to the 31st.

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

SC Nanda & Co. is located in Nilgiri Apartments on Barakhamba Road amidst sprawling lawns of Lutyens Delhi and right next to CP.

On the first day of internship all the new interns are made to sit in one of the conference rooms and we were made to fill in some forms.

Following the formalities we proceeded towards an induction and orientation programme whereafter we were assigned to our respective teams. Mr. SC Nanda has several teams naming Corporate team, Litigation Team, Real Estate to name a few.

We were introduced to the Partners, Principal Associates and Associates of our team.

Each intern is allotted a mentor, who is responsible for assigning work, memo submissions, practically everything related to the internship of an intern.

There are multiple conference rooms, a board room and a well stocked library.

The kitchen/ pantry serves freshly brewed tea and coffee!

The interns sit at the designated work stations for interns close to their designated teams.

Main tasks

I was interning with the Real Estate team, while I did receive work from the corporate and litigation team as well.

Although my mentor used to give me plenty of work each day which used to consist making case notes, drafting notices, agreements etc. compiling Real Estate regulations and conducting research with respect to Transfer of Property Act and other laws such as The Companies Act 2013 & 1956, Contracts Act of 1872, Tort Laws, Civil Procedure Code of 1908, DMCA Act of 1957 and even Hindu Succession Act of 1956 & HAMA 1956.

A day before the conclusion of our internship our mentors asked us to give a full report for which we were required to prepare a submission and mail it to the HR and our mentor and also present it to one of our partners which is a basis for assessment of our internship.

Work environment and people

Mr. SC Nanda is an emerging player especially in the Real Estate sector. All the partners and associates are extremely warm, friendly and approachable. They are always happy to lend a hand and as need be, a ear.

Best things

The associates, the quota of work, the timings!

Bad things

No stipend!

Biggest Lessons

Interning with SC Nanda & Co was a great opportunity for me to learn as well as to build contacts and I tried to make the best out of it.

For the others all I can advice is to try to build good relations with the associates you work with during your internship. Ask for help, favors if you need it.Make the most of it.

Work hard, be confident and self-assured,believe in yourself but always remember that there is a simple mantra for success in long run- “Hard Work +Diligence+ Personal Contacts”

Any Other Thing

Overall Rating

I live in Delhi so accommodation wasn’t a problem for me. As for others coming in from various parts of the country, there are a ton of paying guest options available throughout the city.

Also, the law firm is situated very close to the Barakhamba metro station, Gate number 4 which is a boon.

Office Timings

My timings were from 10.30 am – 6 pm

Girls aren’t required to stay back longer than that!
