Internship Opportunity: Save Aravali, Delhi [Environmental Law]: Applications on Rolling Basis

Call for Applications

Save Aravali, is looking for law students currently enrolled in recognized Three-year or Five-year law programme at any Indian or International university to serve as law interns in our Legal Cell.

This is a major opportunity for law students interested in working with a team of experienced advocates in various courts in the field of environmental law. Please note that we invite applications on rolling basis throughout the year.

‘Save Aravali Trust’ works for the protection and preservation of environment.

The core objectives are:

1. Afforestation

5. Activism (particularly on the environment).

The team works in close coordination with the government departments, social activists and autonomous bodies with a very positive and constructed approach. Our team of over 300 honorary volunteers includes esteemed NGT Lawyers and other highly qualified, knowledgeable and dedicated social workers.

The students will not only get practical knowledge but will also learn a lot from the experience and expertise of the staff in Save Aravali.

The scope of learning and work inter-alia includes:

 Understanding the structure of a trust/ NGO.

 The legal provisions implicating Aravali region covering Delhi NCR in terms of various
sections of Punjab.

 Land Preservation Act, National Green Tribunal Act and Forest (Conservation) Act.

 The activities being under taken by the NGO in protecting the environment and the direct
and indirect challenges faced by it.

 The legal structure and support system of this NGO;

 Various RTIs and Appeals filed by it at the relevant levels.

Most of the things can be done by the students online, through effective use of technology and video/ audio conference calls. On successful completion of the internship the eligible students will be awarded with the Letter of Recommendation (LOR)/certificates.

The outstanding performers can be considered for long term engagements in various projects of the NGO in future.

In addition to the formal learning and their contribution to the legal team of Save Aravali, the interns may also enjoy the pleasure of being part of other fun-filled activities like making natural seed balls, planting of saplings in the ensuing monsoon, watering the plants in the beautiful landscapes and hills of Aravalis in Delhi- NCR area, monthly adventurous Aravali Yatra, rainwater harvesting systems, check dams, development of City Forest and much more.

Job Responsibilities

1. Letter, RTI, Appeal, Case, Writ and PIL writing.

2. Regular follow up of cases.

3. Summarization of policies, orders, acts and legal documents.

4. Assisting senior lawyers.

5. Drafting of legal notices.

6. Connect with senior govt officers.

7. Engage with major Environmental Law issues.

About Save Aravali Trust

Save Aravali Trust is a registered trust (2015) working in the field of environment since last 8 years. With a specific focus on the Aravali mountain range. We are a group of volunteers lead by renowned environment activists and environmentalists.

We aim to make Aravali more green, sustainable and home to wildlife. For this, we have been fighting a legal battle and have achieved certain landmarks.

Recently, we have been awarded Haryana's top NGO working in the field of afforestation, water conservation, wild life conservation and environment literacy.
