First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
On the very first day we were given orientation about the organization and its working. We were made to meet District Attorneys and one corporate legal adviser. We were given freedom to either work under DA or corporate legal adviser, I chose CLA hence work started from very first day. The legal cell department was fairly enough spacious, but interns were asked to work in one of the conference hall.
Main task was to review their case files and come up with any error and give suggestion, which was ironically funny as some files already contained legal advise and to come up with something new on CLA could agree was next to impossible.
Work environment and people
Everyone there meant business and time is money, so they give us files and were given just half day to study hundreds sometimes thousands of pages which extracted our blood. Frequent career related advise by CLA helped us sometimes but he was too serious for his work and took no excuse for late submissions.
Best thing, was an “eye-opener”. We at law-schools tend to have a fairy tale imagination regarding corporate world which gets straight right when entered into main field.
Second best thing was that as it is a joint venture of Government of India and Government of Himachal Pradesh hence sometimes we got chance to work on bigger cases also.
The only bad thing was hectic schedule as I had to travel for 3 hours.
Classroom teaching and filed work are two different aspects which can only be understood by entering into the field.
