They ask you to contact Vijaya Ma’am who comes to the organisation only on specific days. Before you’re given the job, you have to compulsorily talk to her in person.
Duration of internship and timings
The duration can be as short or as long as required for the job to be complete. They certify you if only you ask for it as they also have volunteers coming in too. For teaching, you need to go in after three as the students come back at that time on weekdays and on weekends you can decide as per your and your student’s convenience.
For the recording job, they let you know the timings which tends to be in the morning.
As I taught, I’ve been able to tell more about that.
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
The first day includes you being assigned or approached by the students themselves for various jobs. You need your bonafide certificate from your college. If it’s a group of people from one college going to intern, you need to decide among yourselves about who will be the coordinator with the organisation.
At the end, it the coordinator’s job to collect the certificates. The infrastructure however can be better. It’s just a house modified to accommodate the students.
The main tasks include various things. You can teach, record lessons for the students on their devices or at the organisation’s tech center. Depends what interests you more.
Work environment and people
The students are really very very eager to learn. They are excited to have internees assigned to teach them because they are on par and will be able to associate better. The work environment is peaceful. You’re left to do your work if the student’s late.
The students have lots of questions. They are very enthusiastic to learn. They are very eager to know about various career possibilities. You might have to research about many skills required for various professions and communicate them to the students.
Some of the staff are way too strict. They tend to keep an eye on your every move. The students are sometimes moody as they stay away from home.
You learn never to underestimate a disabled person. You learn to be on par with everyone. You learn that nothing can stop you from dreaming and achieve your goals.
Any Other Thing
The students need you to explain the lessons to them in their medium of instruction at college. It might be Kannada or English. They might even need help in Hindi i.e. regarding school going and PUC students.
